I went to the Tax Shack on Janurary of 2005 to have my 2004 taxes done. The reason I went to them was because they said they have the same guarantee as H&R Block if they mess up they pay. Who would know $3,000.00 later that was very far from the truth!

I got back $2,600.00 from my taxes that year, which was a normal amount. Well about a week ago I recieved a letter from the IRS stating I owed them $2,800.00 for that year because my taxes were done wrong. I immediatly called The Tax Shack because I was so scared I didn't know what happened and why I was owing money when I worked and paid in taxes that year. Well I quickly found out why you never go to a small place where the only employees are husband and wife who hides when they mess up someones taxes.

They asked me to scan the letter and send it to them so they could review it thinking I could just be misunderstanding the letter. Well it quickly turned into a battle just to get them to answer the phone. As soon as they saw that they were wrong they tried to ignore us and hide. I really didn't know what to do. I certainly didn't have a spare $2,800.00 laying around and the $200.00 dollors in fees from the audit because of it. I called the IRS and talked to one of the workers. She said this happenes all the time and that companies like them will hide and try to not show there face intil the people are just sick of fighting.

By this time I was cring and had no clue what to do. I had never owed the IRS before and was scared to death because how would I come up with all this money. I grabbed my cell phone and thought why not try them from a unknown number so they will pick up. Well they picked up and I asked him if he reviewd the Scanned copy I sent him? He said,"yes", so I asked him how his company was going to help me because none of this was my fault and it was clearly shown. He said even thought he sees his company made a mistake he will not be able to help me because that's the chances i took with hiring his company and that was something I had to face on my own. I asked him why he told me I was guaranteed they would pay any penalties. He said he only says that to a select few clients and if he said it to me it was a mistake. I quickly paniced realizing this company was not going to do anything to help me. I told him that what he is doing was so terrible and asked him how he could do this to people especially when they have kids tring to support them. He laughed and said,"Like I said it's not my problem it's yours now and it looks like you have a big one so you need to be working on getting money instead of asking me for it"!

So now I am taking them to court but it is costing me so much in the process. But now my mission is to warn innocent people of this company. I found out there are more people than just myself that this company has done this to. I just wish people could learn this information before it happenes to them because it is truly a tragedy when you can't afford a bill like this. And all it was suppost to be was a simple tax return, turned into almost all of my return plus $300 dollars more because of this companies mistake.
