Shane Melaugh, the owner of Thrive Themes is a total scam artist. Whitesquare GMBH seems to be a shell company he hids behind in Switzerland. He is also behind IM Impact too.

Over a year ago, I purchased the Thrive Themes software, yet tried to use the very un-intuitive and not easy to use software as they claimed. I had forgot to cancel my subscription to the product before the 30 day trial ended and ate the $187 fee. I was okay with that.

However, i had not been back to that website in well over a year, never got any email updates either. Yet, i was very surprised that I was recently charged another $187 via an automatic renewal charge via PayPal. I was never aware that they automatically subscribed me to auto-renewals via PayPal and I sure as hell never authorized this. I contacted PayPal to take care of this but they insisted I contact Thrive Themes to get a refund.

I have now reached out several times to their team only to be sent back complete BS responses that it was my fault and i should have been looking through the terms of service and taken care of this. I insisted that i was okay with the payment a year ago, but this new one is total BS since i never used the product nor intended to again. I never authorized the auto-renewal payment, nor was ever notified in advance that I had an upcoming payment.

This is incredibly shady business practices by Thrive Themes and especially on the owners Shane Melaugh and Paul McCarthy. You can find these to shady people here:

Shane = https://www.linkedin.com/in/shane-melaugh-a3559318

Paul = https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-mccarthy-67726520

They operate https://thrivethemes.com/ and http://imimpact.com/

This is total robbery and absolute unprofessional business practices. Yet, even though i tried to professionally resolve this several times, they have only countered with absolute BS and the world, along with any other prospective customers should know about the shady business practices of Thrive Themes and to absolutely avoid using them. There are much better products out there.

Also, the Thrive Themes (c) hasn't been updated since 2014. So, I'm not even sure if they are still operational, but are dooping customers into this auto-renewal scam that they are running. I'm sure I'm not the only one that Thrive Themes has swindled money from and likely hiding this in tax free accounts over in Switzerland.

I will again try to resolve this and will consider updating this RipOffReport about Thrive Themes and the owners Shane Melaugh and Paul McCarthy once refunds are made. In the meantime, I cannot stress enough for prospective and current customer to AVOiD THRIVE THEMES like the plague.

I have only had good luck

AUTHOR: Gilbert - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, September 22, 2017

I think a site like this is a good thing but it also can lead people into wrong assumptions. If you only read the negatives on this site you may miss out on using a really nice program.

I have found that Thrive Content Builder (TCB) is relative easy to operate for most tasks. I know little about WordPress and nothing about coding.  So easy is important to me.  TCB allowed me to develop 2 church (one is http://cclgps.org/ ) sites and a couple of other sites ( http://sdepis.org/ ).

I do agree that their customer help could be improved a little but it is much better than a lot of help area that I have found.  By the way they do not provide email updates they go through the WordPress update process.  Also if they have your correct email you should have been getting a couple of emails a month as they do put on a hard sell to get you more involved in their product.  Not necessarially to purchase more but so you can learn how to do more with the product.  Lots of video on how to do things are available.

Now the new upgraded produce Thrive Architect  (TA) is powerful and a lot harder to get familiar with.  I’m not sure I will upgrade too it but they provided me with a way to migrate back to TCB.  Cannot complain about that type of customer support can you.

If you screw up on implementation or forget to put in a stop before the trial period ends or to make sure you are not on auto renew thne you really should not complain.  My opinion on that issue is you just need to put your big boy pants on you are not a victim.

Some of the other comments I think have merit but is some cases a lot of the issues I have are due to my website host and not Thrive.  Which is why I plan on changing website hosts.

I hope this provide some counter to the negative it is a TBC is a great program TA has a much longer learning curve but it does have lots more options that you cannot get unless you are really good at WordPress and also HTML programming.

Customer Support Rebuttal

AUTHOR: kweather9122 - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, May 19, 2017

I would like to submit a rebuttal to the comment about good customer support.  I have gotten the worst customer support from any company I have ever dealt with.  My situation was that I accidentally typed in the wrong email address on my order form when I order their products.

My initial purhcase was for one ThriveLeads when I put in the wrong email address.  Unfortunately, their system does not have to fields to confirm the email address.  Bad idea.  Next, I upgraded to add ThriveThemes and in fact did enter the correct email address on the upgrade.  However, when I purhcased the upgrade, it assigned it to my current account.  So not sure what the purpose was to enter the correct email address when purchasing the upgrade.

So, needless to say, I never got an email purchase confirmation, purchase order, download links or anything...because of the wrong address I entered.  Since then, I have been dealing with their technical support for a week to get this resolved.  I still don't have access to the products or my account.

The strangest part is that I had two accounts...one with the wrong email address and attached to my products purchased, and a second one with the correct email address and password with no products purchased.

Therefore, I think my rebuttal about poor support is kind of justified.  It really should take a week to get this resolved.  By the way, they have NO PHONE SUPPORT!

Thrive Themes Still Rips People Off

AUTHOR: Anthony - (Canada)

POSTED: Thursday, October 13, 2016

Sure, I like the software as well. But I don't want or need it for my business.

Most of us don't have logs of auto renewal dates, and they don't inform you that there will be a payment deducted. A pretty significant one too. I don't live in the U.S. and $147 is $200 here. And one hour after I was billed, I asked for a refund, stating I had no idea I would be charged.

They promptly pointed to a clause that states I agreed there is no refund on auto renewal...so, tough luck.

They then cut off all communication with me. Past the tech support there is no community interaction, as all comments are strictly moderated. Their is no email contact, nor phone number.

I'm stuck with a $200 bill for something I don't want.

Thanks Thrive Themes. Great customer service. I may have come back when my finances were better. Now you've created an any who will smear your name for years to come. Enjoy your $147.

I have excellent experience with Thrive Themes

AUTHOR: The Soundproofing Expert - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, July 10, 2016

I symphatize with the complainant, Thrive Themes should refund his money.  However, my experience with them is very positive.  I like their product, even though I cannot compare it to competition, because this is the only wordpress theme and visual editor product that I have used to develop my website http://soundproofing.expert . They have excellent video turorials for their products. Thrive Themes provide excellent support.  They individually addressed, within 24 hours, and resolved immediately, each of the few issues that I have had.  I consider the annual fee that they charge a good investment.
