I bought a kit advertised by TigerDirect that included a 1GB memory stick and a CA Internet Security software. I was charged $95 and expected two rebates: one for $60.00 and a second for $25.00.

I could have collected the $25.00 or accept to get 2 additional CA software products. So I accepted the latter. Rebate.com then steered me to a non-existent URL at Computer Associates and there was no way of getting back to Rebate.com. I complained to CA and indicated the URL address. They responded that there is nothing they can do about this.

I submitted the $60.00 rebate by mail, which was returned stating falsely that I had not included the invoice. This was the third time that the TigerDirect Rebate.com scam team had tried to rip me off. The first time, it was because I allegedly forgot the invoice. I had not kept a copy of the submitted material, so I had to give up. The second time, they stated that I had not signed the rebate application. I had a copy, but had lost it in the middle of moving, so I lost again.

This third time, I have all the proof on hand. Rebate.com states that it is refused because I did not include the invoice. I did and I have the copies to prove it. I asked Rebate.com to resolve this. They did not even answer my emails. I then turned to TigerDirect who first responded telling me to send the copies to a bad fax number. If I had not persisted, they would have gotten away with it. They finally gave me another fax number among a flurry of excuses and apologies. I sent the info again, with a copy of the email I sent to Rebate.com. It's been a week, and it is Thanks Giving week, so hopefully, they will come through.

I believe that this is a voluntary scam that requires consumers to raise a class action against all the companies that gravitate around rebate.com. I for one am willing to put in the time to help bring these pariahs to justice.
