I found Timberline Kennel on the web and contacted Maggie Bullock, the owner, on December 31st about purchasing a female puppy she had listed. During that first conversation Maggie described to me a 350 acre ranch that she owned where her Australian Shepherds were used as working dogs. She described an ideal situation in the countryside of Missouri where Australian Shepherds run free and make beautiful puppies. I arranged with her that evening to pick up a female Blue Merle Australian Shepherd in the morning. She quoted me $550 for the puppy and asked me to call her in the morning when I was headed towards El Dorado Springs, MO. She then stated that she would give me better directions when I got closer.

I left Arkansas on December 31st at 9:00pm, stayed overnight in Fayetteville, Arkansas and called Maggie as I was leaving Fayetteville to arrange an exact pick-up time for the puppy. She told me to call her when I reached the US54 turnoff as that was only 20 minutes from her and that she would meet me at a nearby gas station. I immediately voiced my concern to Maggie because she had made it seem the night before that I would be able to see the property where she raised her dogs. She then informed me that nobody was allowed on her property and that I would never be able to see where her dogs lived. Due to the fact that I had already driven 200 miles I continued with her new plan to call her at US54 and meet her at the gas station.

When I reached the US54 turnoff I called Maggie. She then informed me that she would not be able to meet me at the gas station. She informed me that a man named Mike would meet me there. Due to the fact that I was now only 20 minutes from my destination and had traveled 330 total miles I agreed to meet Mike at the gas station. When I arrived at the gas station there were 3 Australian Shepherd puppies in a travel carrier in the back of Mikes vehicle. The puppies looked healthy but appeared to be quite shy and hid behind the carrier when released. Another family was at the gas station picking up their puppy as well. I choose between the 2 female dogs that had been brought for me to look at. I asked about the well puppy check and if, due to the holiday weekend, I could take the puppy in on Monday January, 4th.  Mike said that would not be a problem. When the paper work was handed to me Mike asked for $592.49. I asked to speak with Maggie on the phone as she had quoted me $550 the night before. She was rude with me and acted as if I should have known that the $550 wasnt the final price and that taxes are paid on all puppies she sells. I paid the $592.49 and left with the puppy of my choice and the paperwork.

Approximately 15 miles down the road towards home the puppy began to cough. The cough started suddenly and was full of phlegm. I immediately called Maggie. I called her business phone, cell phone, and Mikes cell phone. She did not answer my calls. I continued to call her about every 30 minutes on those phones. She did not answer my calls. It wasnt until 3 hours later that she returned my calls. By this time the puppy was vomiting and obviously sick. The coughing had only got worse and she vomited until she had nothing left to vomit and then she dry heaved. Maggie informed me that the puppy was only carsick and would be fine.

The puppy was not carsick and was not fine. On January 4th, Monday the puppy was diagnosed with viral tracheobronchitis. The puppy continued to get sicker. On January 6th, Wednesday the puppy was diagnosed with Parvo. The puppy was treated for 2 days at The Pet Clinic and then sent home on January 7th, Thursday with IV fluids, antibiotics, and antiemetic. The puppy was given a poor prognosis for survival by the doctor. The puppy died on January 8th, Fridayexactly one week from the date I purchased her.

Maggie at Timberline Kennels was updated on the condition of the puppy during the entire 7 day process. Although she rarely answered her phone, the few times we did speak she was rude, uncooperative, angry, confrontational, and blamed us for the situation. She agreed on January 8th, to refund the price of the puppy if I faxed a letter from the vet stating the situation and that the puppy had not been put down but had died. The vet faxed Maggie the letter stating the situation and I faxed her copies of all the vet bills that had accrued over the week. Maggie at Timberline Kennel refused to refund the price of the puppy even though her written contract states the puppy to be free of Major Diseases, with Parvo listed as one of the conditions covered.

To document each interaction with Maggie would only serve to fill pages with her completely unprofessional conduct. My mother cried every time she spoke with Maggie and there was not one second that Maggie stated her regret or sadness over what my mother was going through. The awfulness of watching such a sweet creature die such a horrible death is sharp in my mind. The absolute callousness of Maggie at Timberline Kennel is unprecedented. Ive never dealt with such a woman as Maggie from Timberline Kennel and I hope to never deal with one again.

If a dog came from Timberlines kennel, with parvo, then Maggie wouldn't have any dogs. Parvo spread quickly and affects anything it comes into contact with.

I would have to say, your wife being a vet, brought it home from work. And if you wife is a vet, why was your cost so high? Parvo can be treated at home, with someone who knows how to run an IV. So your story doesn't make since.

I have raised aussies for around 20 years. I love the breed and their athletic abilities. I purchased aussies from several different breeders and have had some of them shipped to me thru Delta. I was having a hard time finding a quality pup. Then I cam across Timberlines. I picked up the phone and called. Maggie talked with me for almost two hours on that first phone call, she answered every question I had, then some, she knows her dogs inside and out, and knows her lines flawlessly.

I purchased my first aussie from Maggie almost 4 years ago, and have added 6 more to my pack since then. Every single pup came to me on a plane, the moment I opened their crates, they came to me like I was always their for them. They were very confident, well socialized, happy and healthy. They all have great stucture and are the closes I have found to being perfect. Any questions I ever have, Maggie is always there for me, even if I have a stupid question.

Maggie is inspected regularly by her state, and by AKC and always get great reviews after her inspections. And her rules of no one on her property are very fair, since it would only take one person to bring in parvo on their feet to wipe out her kennel. Maggie is brutally honest, and even when she is having a bad day, she has always taken time to easy my mind when something happens to one of my pups. Maggie also has a vet at her place at least once a week no matter what, so I know the pups I buy, are watched over closely. I will only by my aussies from Maggie. Her and Mike have always bent over backwards to make me happy.

Totally Disagree! Have 2 awesome pups from Timberline!

AUTHOR: Linda D. - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, January 07, 2014

I have purchased 2 female pups from Maggie Bullock @ Timberline Kennel (6months apart) and have had an extremely positive experience with her both times.  I can't imagine my life without these wonderful dogs.  Sweet disposition, full of energy and they've never once been aggressive with the 3 cats I own.  Even when the cats have an attitude with them. Not to say that something didn't happen in this particular case where a pup got sick and died.  BUT I can only speak from my experience which casts doubts on most of the details of this story.

First of all, all the prices of the pups are online.  She charged me exactly what was stated online and gave me the price of the airline flight after it was booked (as she said she would).  There was no add-on "tax".

Second, she emphatically states that she does not allow people on her property to view dogs.  She told me that and also on her Facebook page and the reasons why. For Pete's sake, you can't even walk back to the doggie hotel/doggie daycamp in Petsmart and all those dogs have to show papers of their vaccinations. Lots of times she has other breeders who buy from her.  She cannot take the chance of someone walking onto her property and infecting her dogs.  Even the vet that comes to her facility has to change his clothes.  All the equipment the vet uses stays on the property in the vet office she built.

Third, her contract states to take the pup to a vet and have it looked over within 24 hours.  I scheduled mine the same day I picked them up from the airport.  Both times all the vet techs came out to love on them and give them cuddles.  Healthy.  Scheduled my upcoming vaccinations and away I went.  Now do they have a sniffle now and then? Do they eat something they shouldn't have?  Of course, they're dogs.  They sniff and chew and taste and explore.  That's what they do.  All we can hope for is that we've taught them well and they're fully vaccinated.  And even then there's no guarantee in life that they won't come down with something.

I don't usually get caught up in the back and forth of reviews like this, but I am today because before I bought my first pup I read this review and almost changed my mind.  And that would have been a mistake.  I did more digging and read through the complaint filed with the BBB and the resolution that came out both times in Maggie's favor.  Anyone interested in buying a pup from Timberline Kennel should get testimonies from more people on their experiences.  She has a Facebook group with hundreds of followers posting pictures and events.  And owners of siblings keeping up with each other like me.  I'll be looking for another dog in the future and can only hope she's still breeding her high quality dogs.

my pup was healthy

POSTED: Monday, January 06, 2014

I have a question. Why did owners wait to take pup to vet? I purchased a pup very soon after date of purchased pup. My pup was healthy. I complied with contract and took my pup to vet within 24 hours of purchase. Also, why is there no update on law suit filed?

Very proud to have 3 Timberline dogs in my family

AUTHOR: Mary - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 05, 2014

I contacted Maggie, owner of Timberline Kennel two years ago when my daughter was looking for a Aussie for her Senior Graduation gift (instead of a trip to Hawaii). I told Maggie what we were looking for & we brought two wonderful Timberline pups home a month later, we added a third this past May. My dogs from Timberline adjusted to their new surroundings & home from the moment they meant us. They are all very social, easy to train & smart. My Vet was impressed with how much time & care was documented on my puppies for him to add to his records for them. I get compliments wherever I go with them. I will go back to Maggie to add more Timberline dogs to my family.

As for the complaints on here...I must say im disappointed with the slander & quite frankly dont believe either story. $6000.00 to treat Parvo ??? I would have switched Vets. You would have without a doubt noticed a sick puppy with parvo BEFORE you drove 15 miles down the road or BEFORE your well puppy check. Five years LATER you come forward with with a puppy SUPPOSEDLY having had parvo? REALLY? Why did you wait so long?  I have contacted Maggie on many occasions & she has ALWAYS answered or returned all of my calls. Maggie didnt have to quote prices to me because they are clearly stated on her Website under EVERY puppy!!!

I read this report when I 1st contacted Maggie but fortunately I dont believe things I read on the internet from people ive never meant. I called Maggie herself!!!! Shes been great to me & has taught me so much about this beautiful loving breed.

Timberline kennel is a great breeder

AUTHOR: shaw - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 05, 2014

Two years ago I started my search for an australian shepherd blue merle male.  I found Timberline Kennel and Maggie.  I got to know her as a breeder.  She has been wonderful and has answered any questions I had regarding her dogs in a professional manner.  I was amazed at the knowledge of the bloodlines that she possessed.  I couldn't have found a better breeder to get my next aussie from.

February 14, 2013, my beautiful blue merle male puppy arrived by plane and i couldn't have been any happier than I was that day I picked him up.  He was so full of energy and wanted to love all over me.  He has been healthy since the day I opened his crate door.   Maggie puts her whole heart and more into these babies and her dogs.  I'm definitely saving up to get another Timberline pup, can't wait. I would recommend Timberline Kennel/Maggie to anyone looking for an outstanding, well socialized, Healthy puppy.

I do not agree!

AUTHOR: Vivian - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 05, 2014

I have purchased several dogs from Timberline Kennel, Mike and Maggie Bullock.   All are well adjusted healthy dogs.  A lot of times pups will get a little sick from the stress of being moved to a new home.  Maggie vaccinates her pups very well and it is easy to get a false positive reading for Parvo when a pup has been vaccinated recently. Maggie has a lot of dogs with bloodlines from three family generations; Maggie, her father and grandfather.  I don't blame her for not letting people on her place.  If someone brought Parvo, Brucellososis, or any other disease onto her place, she stands the chance of loosing her dogs and all the years of work that has gone into the great dogs she produces, their family income, etc.  I have never spoke to anyone that is more knowledgable and giving of that knowledge.  I believe this case went to court and the plaintive lost.  It's a shame that Rip Off Report doesn't follow up on the reports filed with them.

Also if this gentleman had a $6000.00 vet bill, he was ripped off by his vet.  I've had a pup treated for Parvo with a week stay at the vets office, drugs, IV's, etc.  Less than $400.00, which I realize was very reasonable, but $6000.00?  Come on.

Timberline Kennels

AUTHOR: MRAussies - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 05, 2014

I am a proud owner of three Timberline dogs.  My first puppy purchase in 2010 was almost canceled due to this Rip Off Report.  Upon futher investigation, I discovered that this report itself was the rip-off and could be hidden for $9500.00.

I was given many references for Timberline Kennels including AKC & Missouri Department of Agriculture.  Timberline Kennels is a family of breeders of three generations and stand behind their breeding program, their dogs and their reputation.  Could not ask for a more knowledgeable, honest and outstanding breeder.

Anyone with common sense would see that one bad report in 2009 filed by one customer...is nothing but a disgruntled customer that wanted a free dog.  Do your research and talk to the 3,000 + Timberline dog owners who are proud of their choice to purchase a Timberline pup from Maggie Bullock.

Totally agree about Timberline Kennels!

AUTHOR: Mojo Risin - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, December 04, 2013

After reading this, I could not help but bring up the memory of the worst week of my life...in which Maggie (Timberline) played a major part of.  5 years ago, I purchased a red merle puppy from Maggie & she flew her out to me in LA.  I spent over $1,200 for her.  I took her for her wellness exam the following day, only to find out that she had Parvovirus.  Just to be clear, Parvovirus does not show up for 6-10 days after exposure...which means that Maggie had Parvovirus present at her kennels.  I spoke with Maggie, explaining how it would cost $1,000 per day & they couldn't guarantee if she'd make it.  Maggie's words..."I can't pay any of her medical expenses, but will replace her if she doesn't make it".  Saying "...she'd replace her..." is not only insensitive (treating my pup like a expendable product) but she's obviously ignorant of how the Parvovirus spreads --- I would not be able to safely bring a new puppy into my apartment for at least a year, as the virus can survive that long.

Thankfully, my puppy survived after 7 days in the hospital costing me over $6,000 which I had to put on a Care Credit card to extend payments for a year.  We've also had to spend thousands of dollars on training her, due to severe anxieties...which I can't help but wonder, is a result of Maggie's puppy mill breeding?!!  As a side note, she has severe allergies...including grass, food & people dander.

I threatened legal action against Maggie years ago...afterwhich she never returned any calls or letters sent.  I've always felt bad (to this day) that I let her off the hook about this.  But after running across this post & reading that convenient/bogus "I disagree from a family friend" --- I had to speak up!  She mentioned in her comment "...killed 300 dogs..." --- did you mean to say that?  Because "300 freaking dogs" at one person's house is a Major Puppy Mill!?!

In closing, my wife is a veterinarian...coincidentally the same veterinarian that saved my pup from Parvo 5 years ago (that's how we met).  It made her upset reading the "I disagree from a family friend" regarding the "ignorant" opinion about not letting people see her property, because of Parvo being tracked in.  Does Maggie never leave her property?  She obviously already has Parvo there, just from these 2 cases alone.  Maggie needs to have a clean facility with proper care for & vaccination of her puppies.  But it sounds to me like there's another reason to not let clients see the facilities?

If my pup didn't survive her disease 5 years ago...I would have driven to Timberline myself (I grew up near St. Louis) & discussed this matter with Maggie in person (I'm sure at the local gas station), regarding this issue (since she would never return any calls).  I also would have followed through with my legal action & would have collected eventually.  So she should consider herself lucky that my pup survived & everything turned out the way it did (only costing me $6,000)! : (

Anyone reading this...please feel free to respond if my story (which I can validate with emails, receipts, etc) can be of assistance to anyone taking action against this puppy mill!

Okay, so my family has bought SEVERAL dogs from Maggie Bullock. Not once have we been ripped off. They've all been great dogs with no health issues. We received the same instructions and met her at the gas station.

The puppies being shy can happen to any puppy, especially their first time being out of the kennel. The only reason YOU weren't allowed at the kennel is because Maggie Bullock cares about her dogs. Parvo can kill an entire kennel (even one as big as Maggies) and it's easily transmitted.

You can step on the ground where Parvo's been and step on Maggie's property, and BOOM. You've just single-handedly killed 300 dogs.

I can understand your concern on whether or not she was honest about her property. But we've been there. My family has become close friends with Maggie Bullock. She has lots of land, and my old horse, Cricket, was moved there. She has horses that run on hundreds of acres as if they were wild.

Her dogs too. She lets every one of them out to run every day. And, earlier, when I told you she cared about her dogs, I meant it. She has a LOT of them, but she spends hours every day making sure they're in a good environment. They have to have clean water and easily accesesable food.

She also knows every one of her dogs. Not only their name, but their entire pedegree. She knows their parents, their grandparents, their great-grandparents. Sh knows their cousins.

Oh, and Mike. Mike is her husband. He cares for and deals with the dogs just as much as she does.
