Tire Kingdom Store 82 My car was "misdiagnosed" by their mechanic and they "fixed" the wrong parts. I payed almost $500, my car breaking down a day later, and a second opinion by another Tire Kingdom mechanic. I was advised it was the wrong diagnosis. Oakland Park Florida

I took my car in because it shut off on me while I was driving. The mechanic advised me that my belt tensioner needed to be repaired and my radiator flushed. I authorized the repairs on the belt tensioner and paid roughly $500 for the repairs. In addition, I was advised and the manager strongly suggested that i let them fix my engine coil. Note, my car was not misfiring when I took it into the shop. The store manager could not explain why the sudden issue. The next day I checked my coolant reservoir and it was empty but I had paid Tire Kingdom $70 to do a drain and fill. The store manager could not explain that either. The next day my car started to overheat. I took it to a separate Tire Kingdom for a second opinion on the work done at the first store. The ASE certified mechanic advised me that it was my thermostat and gasket that was the problem. He did not mention anything about a belt tensioner. In addition, he provided a detailed analysis about my "new" misfire and it was not the vague and empty explanation provided by store 82. Store 82 did not diagnose my car correctly, that cost me $500, and they replaced good parts on my car. They also did a poorI job, if not none at all, in refilling my coolant system. Lastly, when I would not authorize them to do frivolous work on my car they did a poor job in completing the service on my car. I have contacted corporate as to this issue.

i WAS the ASE mechanic at store #82----i was fired 1 month prior to your incident there---the mechanic u speak of HECTOR, i worked with him for 2 weeks(before they fired me)--i can say he is truly incompetant or inexperienced, has NO tools and is NOT ase certified----matter as fact a few stores do not have certified people there!!!!!!-----------in any case i find this report funny as cause this is the mechanic that took my place and the manager gordon bradford who fired me for not having a double sign off on tickets has also been fired not long ago-----------I am glad to c the decisions of the district mangers and upper management comin back 2 haunt them-THESE MEN ARE TRULY A JOKE OF HUMAN EXISTANCE ALONG WITH THERE SALES PEOPLE!!!!!

...how any of these issues could cause your initial problem which according to the report states your vehicle shut off while driving. If it was overheating due to a belt or hose or thermostat you would have noticed you were overheating before it shut down. If it was due to anything voltage related which a loose belt/tensioner could cause your battery would have been dead and you would have noticed the vehicle did not re start on it's own once it died.
Although the report is not clear on the symptons it could very well be an electrical or fuel problem that caused the shut down but niether shop seemed to address that issue. So either something was left out of the report or niether shop knows why your car shut down.
