TMI Certifed - operated by Maxwell Tufts and Graham Tufts Takes payments without completing work or paying subcontractors Toronto Ontario

 I am posting to provide a warning to others about a company called TMI Certified (operated by Maxwell Tufts and Graham Tufts) who engages in contractor fraud. They promote themselves as a property management company but what they do is take deposits for homeowner maintenance and repairs, hire subcontractors to do the work, and keep the payments and deposits for themselves without paying the subcontractor.They have also previously operated as Tufts Management Inc.

My house got hit by the hail storm back in August 2024 and I hired them for vinyl siding, eavestrough, and window repair. They hired a subcontractor to complete the vinyl siding work and once the work was completed, I paid TMI Certified.

A month later, the subcontractor notifies me that he is putting a lien on my house because they were never paid for the work they did. TMI Certified has avoided all calls, emails, and text messages from both the subcontractor and myself to resolve this issue and I found there have been several others that have been defrauded by them. I wanted to post this as a warning to homeowners but also subcontractors, as they may reach out to subcontractors to hire them for jobs but end up not paying them.

I created the following website to provide a warning to others but also as a resource to anyone who may have been defrauded by them. I urge you to report them to the Calgary police commercial fraud unit, Alberta Consumer Protection, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, and Canada Revenue Agency. I have included instructions on how to report them if you have also been scammed by TMI Certified/Tufts Management Inc. They have also previously operated in Medicine Hat, Saskatchewan, and Ontario as well.
