I received an email from some Free Lotto stating that myself and 17 other contestants had won $1 million GBP or 2,001,000.00 in US dollars. It would have equaled out to about $111,116.00 after divided between the 18 "winners". They had never asked for my Social Security number or my debit or credit card number and had also included email addresses, names and phone numbers to contact. I tried to contact the international numbers and conveniently enough, the numbers had been disconnected.

I tried calling the Better Business Bureau (1-800-525-1447), who then advised I should call the Consumer Services number (1-800-435-7352). Consumer Services had informed me that it is ILLEAGAL for anyone in the US to participates in any email that comes from a different country. I did not know this. So, whoever reads this, please take note!!! They then advised me to also call the Attorney General (1-866-966-7226) to advise them of this scam.

The Attorney General also gave me a number for the Secret Service who takes calls regarding scams like this and an internet site to file a complaint reagarding the sitaution also. The number for the Secret Service was for Orlando is (1-407-648-6333) and the website for the Internet Crime Complaint Center is IC3.gov. I strongly encourage everyone who received this crap over the computer, preying on people who are either nieve enough or are in financial situations and need the money and will believe this, to please report it.
