Tom Julian hired me and my company in May, 2020 to edit two television shows. Over the next three months my assistant editor and I edited those shows. We noticed after receiving footage from the shooters that it was low in quality. I explained this to Tom a number of times. He told us to continue to edit the shows with the footage we were given. We went ahead and did this to the best of our abilities considering the poor quality of footage we had to work with.
On July 13th I submitted my first invoice to Tom. He called me soon after to remind me that we were on a net-30 payment schedule. I said that was fine and I just wanted to communicate our costs via invoice. He said okay. Over the next few month I recieved many phone calls and emails in which Tom explained why payment was delayed for various reasons. In short, Tom Julian and JUL-TV never paid. It is now November and Tom has stopped responding to calls and emails.
I believe Tom hires media professionals to work on TV shows without having funds to pay them. He then hopes the work they produce will be sellable so he can pay them after the show is sold. Unfortunately, in my case, he hired a unskilled shooter to shoot the shows that I was to edit. The quality of the shows I edited were therefore unsellable and he couldn't pay me for my work because he didn't have the money. Rather than tell me this, he lied, delayed, deflected, disappeard, etc....
In short, Tom Julian is a dishonest con man who uses multiple identities and the veil of religion to exploid honest hard working professionals to his benefit. Writting this just infuriates me. I've spoken to multiple other people who he hired in the past. They have very similar experiences to me. Do not work with him. You can see the quality of my work at www.cairnsfilm.com. Please be sure you do the job correctly.... 16 hours of filming and you show nothing for it.... except 22 minutes with many filming segments missing...
