Upon being hired through a group interview you then go to a 5 hr long "Orientation" which is basically a formal introduction to his pyramid scheme. He starts off by making you "realize" your life is terrible and all of your problems are because of lack of money. Then he tells you how much money you can potentially earn working for his marketing company.... But wait. He hasn't told you that it's door to door quite yet. ..
Your first day of the job you go out with a team leader to teach you the ropes about closing deals for the energy company IGS. You then begin to learn the ropes about 'slamming' which is a term used where you lie to the customer to get them to switch over to your company. You soon realize that the first week of your job is made to be perceived by you as amazing! You somehow made 22 sales on your first week at $25 a pop??? That's good money you say! I will stay!
Week two you discover that some illegal happenings are occuring..With door to door sales you are required by law to have a solicitation permit... Well gee.... why didn't Hector Marun tell me that before? You get the $100 ticket and ask Hector the next day about the ticket and he assures you! Repeatedly assures you that it will be paid for. You tell him you don't feel comfortable doing sales in neighborhoods you're not permitted in. He takes offense. At this point you KNOW you must quit this job but are afraid to leave because of the ticket you aquired.
You go back to work and aquire another ticket. This time for $750. You ask again if he will pay he again assures you he will. Two days later you are fired.
A few weeks later you receive a letter from that town about a court hearing. You are no longer an employee you call Hector to insist that he pays the ticket as promised.
He then tells you that he had made it clear that he informed you about the solicitation permits and that it is your responsibility to aquire one. And then says that at no point did he ever claim he would pay, and that he didn't fire you, you quit.... Also that you signed a paper that says you are an independent contractor that the company somehow can't find for you.
Now you're left with $850 worth of fines.

I believe it!

I believe everything you wrote because I have read it over and over again, year after year. it is always the same thing with these D2D, commission only 'opportunities', whether it is selling new energy plans, Verizon Fios, U-verse, knockoff perfumes, magazines, vacuum cleaners, makeup, coupon books, etc.
I would scoff at anyone who called me a disgruntled ex-employee, because, well d***! you have the right to be disgruntled!
