Travel Exclusive, LLC is the biggest rip-off company ever. Sure they got me out of my unwanted, unneeded timeshares, but they way they go about it is smooth. They sympathize with you about having to pay the ever increasing maintenance fees for a place you may never visit again. Then they scare you into believing that once you die, the title transfers to one of your relatives, who are stuck with this monster for ever. They even give you a phony 1098 with bogus numbers.
In reality, folks, selling or paying somebody to take over your timeshare is NOT tax deductible. If it is not a rental investment, do not believe any company that says you can deduct the cost to transfer the title. The only salvation I have is that I do not have to pay the yearly maintenance fee, which increases every year. This was a very expensive lesson for me, please don't fall for the same trick.

I worked with Travel Exclusive as well. And you are right, you CANNOT deduct your timeshare on your taxes UNLESS it was used as an investment. I did rent mine out several times to make money, therefore mine is an investment and i DID successfully write my timeshare off on my taxes. Travel Exclusive DID tell me that i would have to have used it as an investment in order for it to be tax deductable.
Maybe you were anxious to get your timeshare off of your hands that you over heard that part.
I believe that Travel Exclusive helped me. Like you said, you didnt want to pay those maintenance fees.. no one does when they almost double EVERY year.
Be thankful that you are out of your timeshare and that it will not be passed down as a burden to your kids.
