I received a letter in the mail from the Tynan car dealership at 700 S Havana Aurora, CO 80012 that contains a coupon that I get a trade in value for my 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan 4 motion of $15,500 if I trade in my car between 24 -26 October 2019. I went to the Tynan dealership on October 2019 around 2:30 Pm with the letter and I requested to see a car that was advertised on their web page for 20,700 (including the $600 dealership fee). After talking with the sales man that did not say his name and did not have a tag with his name, just a T-shirt with Tynan name on it (he stated he came from Los Angeles, CA to Denver just 3 months ago) he came up with a sheet of paper were it showed I was given $10,500 trade in value for my car and the price the car advertised for the 2018 Volkwagen Tiguan $20,700 was actual $22,300.
When I asked about the advertised price of $20,700 of the car I wanted I was told that because I was going to pay cash for it, the price was higher.
When I asked about the difference between the trade in value between the coupon I brought and the actual price they would pay for my car that was greated then $5000, I was told by the sales person that was the BLACK BOOK value and they do not pay the Black Book value. I was not familiar about the black book.
But why would they send me a black book value to just get me there and offer me $5000 less then the coupon that was mailed to me.
I thought that was a scam and I left.

I got a call from Marcus, the sales manager at Tynan's Volkswagen and he did appologize to me and also offered the car I wanted for the price advertised and I also got my coupon trade in value for my car.
I just bought my new car from tynan and I am very happy with the transaction, I think they realised very quickly they made a mistake and they corrected at my satisfaction. I am very happy.

I am not comfortable taking to the media, I have never been in a position to talk with media before. I think all dealers are somewhat deceiving but this particular dealer was rather at the extreme throwing all these numbers at me under the pretense they were "helping me".
I am glad that someone else is thinking that was Not right. I will look to see if I can file a complain with consumer protection or BBB.

I would contact the media if I were you. This sounds like blatant false advertising that no company should be allowed to get away with- you can't just say anything to get people to visit your store and then pull a bait and switch once they walk in. Also- you were quite correct to walk away when he tried to raise the price because you were paying cash. If anything, paying cash should result in a LOWER price, not higher. Either he's trying to avoid living up to the terms of the advertisement- and trying to get you to leave or pay more- or this dealership feeds off of high interest rates so cash customers are of low value to them.
