Do not believe Ultius. They try to make themselves reputable. What they fail to tell you is that the are encouraging academic dishonesty and plagarism. This is because you are writing research papers for college and high school students. They never paid me for $300 in outstanding work, their editors play God with your assignments and when you are accused of something they never give you any evidence or allow you to challenge the facts. Their spin machine is in full force looking for more writers to take adavantage of in the upcoming school year. Don't fall for their lies.

BTW, Ultius charges clients' about 3-4X what they reimbuse their writers.  You work like a dog on short deadlines.  Then you find out that you might get $10 per page of completed work, when you put in hours and hours per page researching and writing and going back and forth with the clients.

I see that someone else recently filed a ripoff report on this so called writing/editing service and their dishonest, lowdown practices.  There are other complaints scattered on the ‘net, many suggesting that the company is clearly in decline.

I worked for them for about 1 1/2 mos. and was about to turn in two papers that I'd finished when all of a sudden, on a Friday night, I was shut out and couldn't get in.  I called and got my password back.  I submitted one of the finished papers. Then I got shut out again.  I emailed Mellissa and other editors but no one could tell me what was going onOne editor, who had been surly before said something surly again about being kicked out.  I couldn't submit my other completed paper and work further on two more that I was working on and going to finish over the weekend.

Then, on Mon. I heard from Mellissa Batten, who told me she had computer problems over the weekend so she couldn’t respond. She said one of my papers was plagiarized on plot details.  We went back and forth about it.  I'd used plot summary details from various online sources.  She said much of it was from Wikipedia, which looked like that could be the case.  But, as I pointed out, such phrases could be found many places on the net.  After all it was a plot summary.  You can’t be truly unique about that.

Soon she found another paper that she said had obvious plot summary plagiarism also.  I went back to the  paper I’d turned in and pointed out that I'd clearly cited the source of those, since the student said I had to take all details from his two sources, which I did.  Melissa said I’d quoted from another source, which I had never even looked at.  It obviously used the textbook plot summary that I’d used.

I demanded my payment on at least the two papers I'd finished, which I was told someone else had completed.  I'd already turned in one of them and had gone back and forth with the client on the  other,  turning in various drafts as we went along (she wanted to do much of the work with me helping her get it together, to her credit), so most of it was done and turned in.  

What appears to have happened is that Ultius stole my work, keeping the $100 or so that I'd earned. Not to mention the work I'd already put on the two papers which would have paid me a few hundred more on  Sun. night when completed.

All this is most ironic, since Ultius clearly helps most students plagiarize (except for an exception now and then) --and then they turn around and flip out about some plot summary details that appear on Wikipedia--as well as one where I cited the source because the student said that was what I was to use. I had many students praise my work and a Ph.D. wanted me to crank out something else for her, a job I didn’t have time to take.  I never had one client complain.

More than a few of Ultius’ clients do not appear to be very bright, or proficient in English.  You get lots of back and forth trying to figure out what in the heck you are supposed to do. And too many editors don’t seem to know either.  Throw in a surly editor who likes to act high and mighty, and you have serious problems. 

I told Mellissa that they need to reconsider their plagiarism policy on plot summaries because it’s very hard not to repeat phrases—phrases that can be found scattered all over the internet—and proof of this.  Nothing else was quoted or paraphrased without citing.
