I went to US Bank today to cash a check for $20.00,
I was told there is a $5.00 Fee to cash this check,
unless I open an account. That is a 25% Fee for cashing a check from their own bank.

What a rip, I talked to the teller's supervisor, unable to resolve the situation, I told him that I will turn them into the Better Buisness Bureau ( www.BBB.ORG ).

And WWW.ripoffreports.com, he said he don't care!!
So, there you go, DON'T DO BUISNESS WITH THEM !!

Bad Reputatioin

AUTHOR: Highcotton - (U.S.A.)

It is correct that cashing a check for a non-customer is not profitable for a financial institution. But how about the person who wrote the check? He/She is obvioiusly a customer. The failure to honor a check that was drawn on them is absurd. It seems as though US Bank is firing off a campaign to rasie their fee income doesn't it. There are many reports, mostly of actual "Customers" being slammed with unfair fees. Banking is a great industry. The beauty of it is, there is a different bank at every corner. Go shopping, find a bank that makes you feel at home. I thank US Bank for their devine efforts to increase fees. I will take 100 new small accounts all day.

Thank you

Cash The Check at Your Bank Then!

$5 to cash a check is standard industry wide. If you'd like to cash a check and not pay the fee then I suggest you use your own bank :)

why should a bank cash a check for a non customer? They make zero profit on that and they have to pay someone to service you, making true customers wait. This encourages people to either open an account instead of paying 5 dollars and reduces traffic in the branch.
