It is possible it is an error, or you are a victim of ID Theft. Unfortunately, talking to US bank asking for information isn't going anywhere because as far as they are concerned you are the one who filled in the application. What you need to do is immediately request your credit reports. You need to make sure that you have no other inquiries or lines of credit you are not familiar with.
You are entitled to a free credit report once per year by going to https://www.annualcreditreport.com If you have any invalid items you need to dispute them with the credit reporting agencies. You should also file an ID Theft report with your local law enforcement agency. You should also look at adding a Fraud Alert to your credit reports. This is free and will keep people from attempting to access your credit reports without your knowledge.
