I received a letter from the US Dept of the Treasury Bureau of the Fiscal Service in Birmingham, Alabama ( Not sure if this office really exist; but it was on the Heading) stating that the US Dept of Education FEDERAL OFFSET UNIT PO Box 5227  Greenville, TX 75403; was going to start on or before 4/2019 taking up to 15% of my Social Security check a month to pay my student loan.

Is this a SCAM? Could not find this office in Birmingham and the one in Texas is a different phone number and address than what is on the letter. So, I say again is this a SCAM. Can the government really take my Social Security without my concent?  I think this all a big RIPOFF>
