I received several phone calls from a male who said his name was Chris. He said he was from the US Government, Department of the Treasury. He said the government wanted to give me a royalty grant of $8400. He said it would not cost me anything and that the money would be deposited to either my bank account or credit card within 45 minutes of providing them with account information.
During his last phone call a few minutes ago, I went online during the call to research whether this offer had been reported as a scam. I noted that there were reports of it being a scam. I told the man what I had found and he quickly hung up the phone. I doubt that he will call again.
I wanted to report this and hopefully prevent someone from falling for this scam.
