I received a call from a man named Eric Dawson concerning a grant check for my husband. He gave me his contact information very quickly. He informed me if I paid $3.87 for the processing of this chexk I could recieve it within 3 to 5 buainess days. I ended up giving hin the money through a credit card. I then waited the alloted time before I called him back to be hung up on numerous times. I obviousl6 have fivured out thiswas a scam. I am not sure how to get my money back. I am in the process of getting a new card.

Be careful - usually when it is a very small charge like the $3.87 you were charged it is to disarm you enough to allow the scammer to steal your ID. ID theft is a huge problem now. You have stopped the card by calling the cc company, but you need to protect yourself from ID theft as well. First thing to do is go to each of the CRA's and lock down your credit so no one can open up other accounts in your name. Pull a report because they may have begun already.
You can get further info by researching ID Theft at FTC(dot)gov and other legitimate credit websites. Good luck. Do this right away.
