I had been hounded by John Turilli, the sales rep, for about six months. He finally said he had 7 buyers for my timeshare that would buy immediately. I waited for the catch, the $700 to do the transaction. Nope. He then said it was refundable within 7 days. I said straight up if you do not call me back as promised within 48 hours, I would cancel. He said he had an immediate buyer for $10K, and others that would be interested at $30K.
After 48 hours elapsed with no call, I did what they said I had to do to cancel - certified letter to the specific address asking for my refund.
Oh, and did I mention the, "I'll give you my personal cell phone number," bit. But when you call, he won't answer nor can you leave a message. Very nice set up.
I don't know the results of cancelling yet, but looking at the other complaints, it doesn't look promising. To Lori, if you go class action, let me know. I'm in.

I waited patiently for VPS to call to inform me they had a buyer, and they did on a Monday. Fortunately, I sent in my cancellation letter, certified per their request, to the address they specified. John called this time saying he had a buyer willing to pay $32K. Of course I agreed and he said he would call in 24 hours with the escrow account where they are keeping the money. Now a week and two days later, he still has not called.
So I called the refund department and asked when they were going to send my money. James Caudill, head of the refund department, said the letter had not been received. This was the Friday following the Monday call from John Turilli. I told James the certified letter was sent Monday and it should have arrived by now. He made a good showing of running around and checking all the other managers' offices, but no certified letter was found. We argued a while and then he put "his boss" on the line, a guy named Nathan. I found out on a later phone call that Nathan was simply another general manager like James. They both said they would call me later that day. No phone call.
My certified letter receipt came back Friday afternoon, which thus proved that it had been received at their office. I could not read the signature on the receipt, so I called the post office. Prior to that, I called James again on the Wednesday (today) following that Friday to inform him the certified letter was returned. He said, as in the earlier phone call, that he is the only person who signs for these letters (obviously not true or else he signs someone else's name) and he had not seen mine. So, I called the post office to determine who signed. It was someone named Travis Hoffman. I asked the post office if the same driver delivers to that post office all the time, and they said yes. They also keep the full documentation (not all of it is available online via tracking) which verified that it was sent to 300 31st St North Suite 615 St Petersburg, FL 33713, which was the address they gave in the recorded message. I called James back to inform him that the post office verified the same driver gave the letter to the exact address VPS supplied for a refund. James still said that he did not get the letter. I said that if the driver is the same one that always gives him the certified letters to sign for, then why would he give it to someone else other than him (James)? James could not answer that, and then became less than courteous.
James spoke to the owner, Frank supposedly, but Frank did not deem it acceptable to refund the money without a letter reaching them, even if the post office has proof that it was delivered to that address. Oh, and Travis Hoffman, according to James Caudill, does not work there.
If anyone would like to take this up as a class action, I am up for it. Right now, I am researching small claims court, and possible civil suits for everyone named above. I'm forwarding this to media outlets where I am, hoping someone will raise the spotlight on these scam artists and actually arrest them.
