Beware Seniors and others: This company claims to have reduced fares for seniors, but they are a royal rip-off. There are other, higher quality cruise travel agencies that are less expensive and offer first class customer service.Vantage does not care about the customers once they have your money, letting you wait forever, before they even send you your tickets. They are very slow to respond (if they even do) to a question / concern.

Do not purchase their so-called "Travel Protection Plan" from Trip Mate - this is another rip-off - they do not give you "protection", only a headache; this plan does not kick in until after your regular health insurance has paid everything, and even then, they give you an extremely difficult time if something is due to you, saying you have to have seen a Dr. at the time of the accident/occurence (how is one supposed to do that if you're at another city each day?).

In essence, this company does not care about its customers and Vantage is having their own employees post phony reviews online to make themselves appear good. They have no integrity whatsoever. Do not make the mistake we did - book with another company. Instead of the name VANTAGE they should be re-named: NO VANTAGE

I have traveled with vantage deluxe travel many times. Customer service is great! I am totally informed about all details of my trips numerous times. I just can not find any truth in this article.

I will travel with vantage as much as I can. The best in deluxe travel with prices lower than last year!

Vantage Travel is a class act!

AUTHOR: westwind - (Canada)

I have worked for many tour companies, and have worked for Vantage Travel. I have to say that I know nothing about the way the office works, but I do know about the on-the-road product the company delivers.

Most companies rely heavily on the Tour Director to provide all the highlights of the tour as cheaply (read:free) as possible. I was amazed at Vantage Travel's inclusions.

For example, it costs a lot of money (+$380 per tour) to have a red-serge Mountie visit with a tour for an hour in the Canadian Rockies. Vantage pays this, happily. I work for a company that charges $10,000-$12,000 per tour, and they wouldn't consider including a Mountie.

Most companies lay on a cold cheese and cracker reception at any Fairmont, but not Vantage. Vantage paid for the most luscious baked brie on puff pastry, as well as the basic cheese, pate, meats, nuts, fruit and wine, with strict instructions to me to have it replenished if supplies became low, and to be sure that guests with special dietary requirements were cared for. Since Vantage is such a good partner with the Fairmont Hotels, I have found hotel staff go well beyond the call of duty for our Vantage guests.

I am a full-on interpretive guide, but Vantage hires local guides and interpreters just in case they have a TD that does not fulfill the educational expectations of their highly-educated guests. It also gives the guests a change of pace from my commentary.

I was very impressed by the lavish quality and quantity of inclusions on Vantage's tours, and was proud to work for them, which I can't always say about other companies.

Please remember when you read reviews that some people set great store in their unrealistic expectations. They will find things to complain about when their fellow travelers are not at all disturbed by the same condition.

Most American companies sell over-priced insurance, and it is no secret in the industry that the profit from the insurance keeps the price of the tour reasonable. A hidden benefit of the insurance is the service provided by the Tour Director to get your claim started if needed. This is particularly helpful in a time of high stress.

Also, please keep in mind that there are people who go on tour with the purpose of finding as much as possible to complain about, they complain in the rudest and most obnoxious way to ensure they will get the least satisfaction, and then they demand financial compensation. I can see these ones coming a mile away, and with my twenty+ years of experience I never let them find anything to complain about, and hence, ruin the tour for others. No one like to hear a whiner. Unfortunately for me, this usually results in them resenting me because their plan is ruined. THey have nothing else to complain about, so they complain about me! Is it fair? No, but at least they "enjoyed" a perfect tour.
