My Ripoff report is similar to, for instance, #457515 or #441489.
I was charged over $40 for a 5-minute phone call from a (202) area code Verizon pay phone to an (805) area code number. Verizon contracts with IOS Telecom to provide a credit card service so that people who don't carry cash can make their call.
A reasonable fee for this would be $2.00 at most, I think. Meanwhile, they are actually charging more than $30! Verizon ought to be ashamed to be associated with such a scheme, especially since the charges are in no way announced before or during the call.
