WARNING!!! Virgin Mobile is completeley owned by Sprint and when you want to transfer your Phone number from Sprint to a Non-Contract Phone at Virgin Mobile they both make up Lies and Unsupported reasons, so after taking the VM Phone back to Best Buy and going through that Circus. I called Sprint to have All my Phones cancelled and Switched over to a non-affilated Sprint coru-pany they said the could ge me changed to Virgin Mobile? Too Late.- Crooks Sprint will lose-out on 4500.00 a Year? and I will save 2800.00 a Year. Beware Stay Away from Anything to do with Sprint Good Luck and May the Force Be With YOU.

Dude, go purchase a Virgin Mobile Phone and have them port all of your Phones (that would be more than One) from Sprint, (out of Contract, don't OWE Sprint anything) it won't happen, also your 72hr wait is "untrue" my son just changed carriers and was up and running in Thirty Minutes, you must work for Sprint, you sound just like them with lame bull!

You do get to keep your number. Period. The hard part is that it can take up to 72hrs for the port in process to be completed. I dont know if the information that Best Buy gave you was inncorect. However, be careful as there is always a ETF. Or Early Termination Fee if youre not out of contract. The good news is that they have to hold your number for a short amount of time after you cancel your services. You can get your number ported over, its just going to take a few days. Sorry to tell you this but its a limitation of the computer systems.
I would try going to someplace that is going to take care of this for you. Sprint wouldnt care if you are porting your number to Virgin Moble. They own it. The only time Sprint or any major carrier will not let you port your number is if you owe them money. If you do owe them, pay them and your number is free and clear.
I would try places like RadioShack. They will do the port in for you provided you dont owe and the number is clear
