When purchasing a car from Volvo of Fredericksburg at an agreed price I found there was a $500 fee added to the invoice. When I asked about the $500 fee and what it covered I was told by Michael Vitiello ( Finance Manager) " It is a standard fee found at any VA dealer. Any dealer in VA charges this $500 fee for handling a car. This fee is non negotiable, that is why it is printed in red on the form." Being skepticle by nature I did a little investigation a few days after purchasing the car finding that I was blatantly lied too. Fees in VA and in almost any state vary from $25-$500 dollars. Fees are negotiable and it is reccomended you negotiate these fees. Watch out for Michael Vitiello, he portrays an honest guy.

What A Line Of Crap

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 17, 2009

I love it when these car dealers come here and TRY and justify their actions by stating "It is posted at the dealership and on all invoices". Like it's an official fee charge by the state. What a load of crap. It's so the finance(F&I) guy can just shrug his shoulders and say "There's nothing I can do about it". Probably a good 90% of the customers DON'T have the balls to tell them to shove it and walk out. The salesmen and the customer AGREE on the price of a vehicle and THEN the dealership "JACKS" the customer for another $500. I'll bet there are several MORE fees added onto the price of the vehicle. I buy enough vehicles and help more folks to buy vehicles to see them. What's that old saying? If a car guys lips are moving, he's lying. If a car guys fingers are typing, he's lying.

Huh?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

""Our store charges a $499 Processing Fee on ALL transactions held at either of our stores. The fee is posted plainly in our showrooms and is in accordence with Virginia State Law. Because there is NO NEGOTIATION on this fee, it is PRINTED on ALL purchase orders. As a result, there is no way to change or remove the charge from ANY transaction.""

Ever hear of a device called a "ball point pen?" Preprinted contracts certainly CAN be changed, as long as the parties to the altered contract agree to the "pen and ink" changes and INITIAL the changes.

I always negotiate the interest rate on auto loans I negotiate with my bank. The standard loan contract has the rate preprinted on it. The loan officer at my bank uses a pen to CHANGE THE INTEREST RATE to what we agreed and then we INITIAL over the hand written change and in the margin next to the altered line. Presto, a written loan contract that has the interest rate we negotiated.

I don't begrudge you for charging this $499 fee, but don't tell folks it cannot be changed because the purchase contracts have this fee preprinted in them-it CAN.

Your business chooses to NOT negotiate this fee. That's OK. If you were to tell me that you can't change the amount of this fee because it is preprinted on the contract, I would WALK OUT and you'd never see me again. If you told me that it's your policy to NOT NEGOTIATE the fee, then we might be able to still make a deal (negotiate some other aspect of the purchase contract.)

Simply put: LIE to me-I'm gone. Be honest-the negotiation door is still open.

Avoid Volvo of Fredericksburg

AUTHOR: Whatdafunk - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 16, 2009

My advice to you is avoid them at all cost. Especially now since the biggest crook in Fredericksburg owns it now - named Rosner.

Be careful they are known for ripping customers off and coming up with bogus repair cost when trying to get your car inspected. They pressure you in buying a new car while you r car is being inspected. After the inspection they say your car will not pass it will cost about a $1000 for new exhaust system and so on. Then comes sale pitch but we an get you in another car.
ROSNER Toyota was investigated by The Attorney General. As for your $500 processing fee is bogus you don't even have to pay it at all. Go to Northern VA that is your best bet. Good Luck

The Truth Will Set You Free!!

AUTHOR: General Manager Mb/volvo Of Fredericksburg - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 21, 2009

As the General Manager of Volvo of Fredericksburg, I was greatly distressed to read the complaint posted on this site. Prior to this reading we were unaware of any dissatisfaction that this customer may have experienced. It is our policy to provide exceptional customer service to all our clients and strive to keep EVERYONE 100% Satisfied with our purchase process.

Our store charges a $499 Processing Fee on ALL transactions held at either of our stores. The fee is posted plainly in our showrooms and is in accordence with Virginia State Law. Because there is NO NEGOTIATION on this fee, it is PRINTED on ALL purchase orders. As a result, there is no way to change or remove the charge from ANY transaction.

This customer was well aware of this fee PRIOR to completing his paperwork, in fact this issue was "resolved" days before he took delivery of his vehicle. If he did not feel the fee was fair, he could have elected to NOT purchase his vehicle from us.

It is unfortunate that this customer feels he was not dealt with in a honest and forthright way as it has long been the policy and reputation of the Rosner Automotive group to ALWAYS put our Customers First! Here at Mercedes-Benz/ Volvo of Fredericksburg we pride ourselves on our 30 Year reputation as a dealership you can trust.

Please feel free to contact me directly at 540-373-5200 to discuss this or any other matter concerning our Company.

Sincerely,
William N. Bell
General Manager
Mercedes-Benz/ Volvo of Fredericksburg
