I opened this account almost one year ago after moving back to Texas. My husband opened a separate account with them. My initial deposit was put on hold because the account was new. Then the same thing with my husband's account. Next deposit was made via electronic transfer, again placed on hold, although my other bank immediately acknowledged and deducted the money from my account. Wachovia claimed they had received it, but that they tried to call the bank and because they didn't speak english, they were placing a hold. Next time I asked what I could do as I was trying to move all my money to this account asap, so I could close old account since I no longer lived near my other bank. They told me to write a personal check for X amount or under and they would make funds available the next business day. I did...next business day no funds. I check, again another hold for 3 days now...So I ask about the transfers on the internet, they say max is X amount per month, but it should be ok now. I do a transfer and it finally gets credited immediately. Great...So 2 other transactions credited immediately, no problems. Then I start with a automatic draft from my wachovia account...of course, a few days before that auto draft is to take place, I make another online transfer of funds...I receive no email or anything and sure enough, I get an NSF fee...come to find out, for no reason at all Wachovia has not posted the "immediate" transfer this time. Then we start with NSF fees. I can't write them a check for deposit because then I have NO money in my other account to pay rent...I need to pay rent with an out of country check...Now I again deposit a check, from FIDELITY...and now they want to hold the deposit almost 10 days! I am sick and tired of them. It is appalling what they do. In 4 years out of the country with both my husband and I drawing from the same account with ATMs we NEVER had an overdraft fee...with Wachovia, it seems there is always something they do to get around it. My next auto draft should come out 10MAR, which is why I deposited this check into the account yesterday...now they claim it won't be available until 13 March...How convenient is that? By the way, the same thing has happened with my husband's account...because of all the holds they place and our need to actually pay rent, therapies for our special needs child and everything else, we have had no choice but to leave his direct deposit at our old account as we cannot count on Wachovia to make funds available at a decent time...it is always a different story with them. I cannot believe this is the way that banks in the US work. This is pathetic.

Pathetic...although the OCC website states that the first 100USD of deposited funds must be made available immediately, they did not do that because two days later I had an auto-debit and had they applied the 100USD I would NOT incurr an NSF fee...then of course, the next 5K are supposed to be done within normal time, and anything over 5K then they can hold...of course, when I told the idiot at Wachovia he said they do whatever they want...I am on my way to the bank on Friday and want my full amount in CASH...then I'll close the account and tell them to shove it.

Being the thieves they are, they have yet to even make available 100USD on a 22K deposit made yesterday from Fidelity investments...however, they have already called me to see how we can work out something so that they can "help me" make some good interest off that money...Isn't that what they are already doing with MY money? If I'm such a bad customer that you are so lousy to not make ANY funds available within one business day, ie. the law states over 5K they can hold...but the first 5K they should make available, why the heck are they calling me to offer anything else...It just goes to show what thieves they are.
