Thanks. Glad to get this off my chest. On September 2000, I purchased a set of tires for my car from Walmart super center in Selmer, Tennessee. Afterwards I took my car to be aligned as is the case when I purchase new tires. 2 days later, I came out to my car and had a flat. This turned out to only be a defective valve stem. I thought everthing was ok.

Around 3 months later, I noticed a shake in my car. Turns out the tires had defects (2 of the tires). They had wire coming out of them straight out of the center of the tire.I took my car back to Walmart. The tire and lube manager looked at them (his name was Randy) and told me it was my fault and not theirs, that my car was out of line. I showed them the reciept of where my car had been fully aligned only three months earlier, the day I purchased the tires to be exact. Stll nothing.

I complained again and he said he would do me a big favor and give me 20.00 off a new set of tires. That was the craziest thing I've ever heard. 3 month old tires with wire hanging out of the center of them, and its my fault. I don't think so. Needless to say, myself nor my family will ever buy tires from them again. Walmart is notorious for claiming to stand by what they sell. In this case, they certainly struck out.

Tire Pressure??

AUTHOR: Nate - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Also a BIG factor on wearing tires on just the middle or the side could be the pressure put in the tire, even though a tire says it can go up to 35psi your car WILL suggest a proper inflation. your tire can wear on only the middle of the tire if the pressure is over the cars specifications, also, a tire can wear horribly on the outsides of the tire if it is under-inflated or under the cars specifications. ALOT of other factors can cause uneven wear or short tire life. i can't speak for all stores but usually managers are pretty good at helping, like i said USUALLY. if you drove on the tires their not going to give you a free replacement.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Have your car checked by someone with years of alignment experience and a quality alignment machine.

Tina, something is wrong with your car. The front end is not lined up properly. I used to fix cars for a living. I'm sure of what I'm telling you.
Try more tires from another store. They will wear off too. I don't care what kind of tires you buy, the same thing will happen.
The wheels on your car are not going down the road straight. They are slightly sideways. The rubber is being scrubbed off as you drive. It doesn't take long. You can wear out new tires in 100 miles this way. Imagine taking a big rubber eraser and dragging it on the ground behind your car. By the time you got home, it would be all worn away.

The alignment shop should have spotted the problem. Maybe your car was in a serious accident. Something could be bent. Maybe the steering or suspension parts are worn out. The alignment shop should have spotted either of those problems.

Trust me, you'll need new tires every three months unless you get it fixed. Walmart tires are cheap, but even cheap tires will last a normal time if the car is aligned right.
Take your car to a specialty alignment shop. You may have to try several. It's probably going to cost you a lot, too. They're not ripping you off. Something is seriously wrong when the tires wear out this way. Perhaps, the shocks are worn out. If that is the case, the price to put new ones on should be only $100 or so. I'd need to see the car to see what it needs.

Try to fix your car. If it works, write back and straighten out your complaint. I'm all for calling a bad company what it is. But, I hate to see an honest mistake harm the wrong party, too.
So, find out what is the matter and let the world know. Good luck!

hey tina,
maybe if your car was in alignment to begin with maybe the wires wouldnt have been sticking out. did you ever rotate or balance your tires, its free at walmart. does anyone else drive your car,? did you even get the tires balanced to begin with? hey walmart gets bad merchandise once and awhile just like every other company but everyone always complains about walmart and they shouldnt. walmart takes care of not only the customers but the economy. think about it!!
