I just noticed my savings acct was charged $10 four separate times in the last week for over use of my savings acct. When I contacted them I was told stop using my acct or I was free to leave the bank as a customer.

What did you mean by "over use" of your savings account? Too many withdrawals?

If that's the case, then what you have is a problem with Federal Regulation D. If someone makes more than 6 transfers or withdrawals a month, the government mandates a fee. At that point, the bank will often convert the savings account into a checking account.

Not a checking account

Banks have rules about withdrawal activity on savings accounts. WaMu charges $10 per transaction over the limit. If you actually read the terms and conditions on the account, this should be no surprise. As a bonus, there is a way to avoid these charges, but you're going to have to do your own reading.
