I attended Watterson Business school in approximately 1984, I did not complete program. Somewhere between 1984 & 1990 there was a class action case where many students filed against this school. I received a letter during that time stating I was a part of the settlement case. This settlement resulted in the school paying off all debts and to be removed from all credit reports and student loans file with the Department of Education.
I have not received any information from the Department of Education or anyone pertaining to this settlement since 1990. Today this school suddenly appears on my records with FAFSA Student Aid Report which I am now being rejected for financial aid.
This is school is currently being advertised on websites. I have been trying to locate this school for 15 years and have not been able to find them. Now they are suddenly appearing. When I tried to go to their last location they were not there. Now they are re-appearing.

All these years and I thought I was the only person left out. I too attended Watterson College in West Covina, CA. I didn't complete course due to "no teacher's available to teach classes" and this has messed up a portion of my credit history and so on. After all these years I got married a few years ago. My poor husband gained a wife and my debt which the IRS collected keeping his tax return for two years. That debt was between the school taking money that should have been returned to Edfund and not holding me responsible for it. Also I think a loan was paid off by my father when the school should have paid it. I tried to locate the owner and the other former students that were enrolled with me (9 or 10 of us). I was told some years later that my other classmates sued the school and was given a settlement refunding students, compensation, etc...but I wasn't contacted by anyone. I told Edfund I would testify on their behalf against Watterson College what they did and failed to return the check to Edfund. I was told to go to the courthouse and find the case information. Well I am not a law clerk, I wouldn't know where to begin looking. What type of case, the lawyer, or anything when I can't even find the owners name. All I knew from the city of West Covina was that the school was a father/son business. I'll file a complaint but I have to gather all my information I've collected which is not much but I am shocked to see your complaint and at the same time grateful you did. I was thinking I lost my mind and maybe this never happened. You only confirm that it was all true. Down to the years when all this happened. THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Now I hope the IRS will refund my husband his hard earned money they took from him when I wasn't his wife while I was a student at Watterson College. That's not his problem. This is the never ending nightmare and I'm beginning to see some light up ahead. WOW...I can't believe it. Thanks again.
