I purchased a male fawn great dane puppy- show quality -Champion lines -heath tested parents ?????? in January 2010- he arrived in February 2010-- after 2 weeks this puppy was so severly malformed in all of his bones and joints that he had to be put down. After contacting this breeder Kathy Williams she informed me that she has had several other issues with these litters and I would recieve a replacement puppy very soon. This has been going on for over 8 months now and she has has 6 or more litters and I still have not recieved a replacemnt or a refund .I have all of the e-mails and all of our records stating I will recieve a quality puppy .

I have splent over 2000.00 dollars and I do not have anything to show for it. This person was supposed to be a quality breeder with many years in this business and I really think I have been scammed .

I am sorry you lost your puppy, I would be devastated as well. I can truly attest that the litter your boy came from was a phenomenal litter. I have 2 from the same litter as your boy.
I must say though that your statements on being unhealthy can not be further from the truth. Having 2 from the ltter, they have nothing but a complete joy. NO health issues what so ever. It sounds as though your boy did not have proper nutrition which led to his growth issues.  It is not your fault per say, things happen. When I first began in Danes 15 or so years ago I didn't know any better and listened to my vet about food choices. Boy did I ever regret that. To blame the breeder, or bash them because your  puppy had issues is insane. I myself have 6 from Kathy, 4 of them being from the sire in question, a*s well as a grand daughter of the sire in question. I have had no issues with any of them, other then the grand daughter seems to like eating dry wall. I would not hesitate to recommend some to Kathy for a puppy, nor would I hesitate to purchase another from her. I myself have personally seen Kathy go above and beyond to replace a dog that had an issue. It took some time, but she stood by her word and replaced the dog.

In respose to Ms. Williams comments ----
On March 18th of 2010 - I forwarded x-rays of my "Jaxon's" condition to Ms. Williams-- I encouraged her to forward these to her Vet for a second opinion ---My Vet -Dr. Melanie Toal did not diagnose this puppy with HOD--she stated his bones were malformed and it would only get worse as he grew and put pressure on these joints. When Ms. Williams was informed she stated to me that she was sorry this had happened and she would send a replacement as soon as she had one available-- I trusted her to do so -she informed me she had several litters in the near future and I could choose from any one of these--- I chose a puppy, then another puppy was promised , and another etc......{Artemis, Sam, Karma, }

I understand that sometimes conditions occur when breeding so I did not blame the breeder I was willing to accept another puppy and have this issue taken care of easily--Jaxon was a beautful puppy and I loved him and was willing to try again -Ms. Williams did have my 1500.00 dollars and I had nothing.  Only after 8 months did I bring this issue into the public { which I feel was a long enough waiting period} After watching 9 or 10 litters being born and sold from this Kennel.

This should have been resolved easily if this breeder would have just went by her word and replaced my puppy and not empty promises-All I have ever wanted was what I paid for -Bottom line is that Ms. Williams recieved full Payment for this puppy and decided to ignore the problem when it occured ---A Quality breeder would want to be assured that her customers are taken care of in a respectable way --Kelli

I am the proud owner of 3 witamy great danes and I cannot express enough gratitude to kathy williams for allowing me to have these such wonderful babies, their temperments are outstanding.

my guy's have gone on in the show ring not only to obtain there championship titles but also holding titles in the great dane nationals .

kathy has always stood behind her guarantee , she has replaced a pup for me that has had some issues , she has been forth-right out front with me opposed to some other breeders that would have just said that doesn't happen in my breedings.

 i would and will be going back to kathy williams for another pup as i just love my danes from her.

My experience

I have done business with Witamy Great Danes and know Kathy personally. I have co-owned great danes with her and have never encountered any problems. She has followed through with her commitments and at times went beyond. I wasn't very familar with showing and the care involved in breeding. She really walked me through the process with our first puppy. Since then, we have co-owned three seperate danes. I wasn't personally involved in this situation, but I do find it hard to believe. I never had an issue where I would need a puppy replaced, but she has always honored every arrangement we had. She has even welped litters for me and carried me through the ear cropping process. No problems. And oh yeah, my dane life started over six years ago. I consider her a mentor and a breeder with very high standards for the placement of her dogs. I have witnessed her deny money for her puppies because she was not confident in the home they were going to. So in my opinion, she is definitly not the richest, does not have a fancy kennel, but her dogs are her focus and well taken care of. I will continue to refer her and stand as a witness to the level of care she provides her dogs and the families they are placed with.

Puppy with bone issues HOD

AUTHOR: Kathy Williams - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, April 07, 2011

Kelli Magan did purchase a beautiful show quality fawn male puppy.  Champion pedigree, health tested parents.  This puppy did NOT have a genetic disorder.  Kelli at first had me believing that possibly "Jaxson" had wobblers (CVS) which is usually genetic.  There is NO test for preventing CVS.  I DID have a puppy from another litter sired by the same dog that DID have CVS, however; it was later determined that "jaxon" had HOD!  HOD is a NUTRIONAL disorder caused by a calcium/phospherus imbalance generally due to feeding puppies an improper protein content in dog food.  IT IS NOT GENETIC.  I offered to replace Jaxson when I was under the impression he had been diagnosed with CVS.  In fact, her vet diagnosed him with HOD.  I still offered to replace him WHEN I HAD A PUPPY AVAILABLE LIKE THE ONE SHE PURCHASED!!!!  Please see my website for my guarantee page.  It is very clear on what I will replace or not replace.  However, I still offered to replace her puppy.  she then started on a campaign BASHING me that I would not replace the dog.  I offered her females and she originally said NO she wanted one that was a male as that is what she originally purchased.  since then she IS willing to take a female and I have had serious questions whether or not she is a good home and I am not quite as willing to give her a new puppy; however, I am still considering it.  I do not put a time limit on replacement puppies.  I can give and certainly will refer people to this site that have gotten a replacement puppy from me.  I have replaced puppies and will continue to do so, however, I think when treated like Kelli Magan has treated me I need more positive communication before I am willing to send a puppy as far away as Louisiana.

I will be attaching photos of this puppy when he was shipped to her and he was totally healthy.  The only thing that could cause such a terrible deformation is HOD.  Wobblers (CVS) does not cause defomity.
