Very unpleasant encounter when I foolishly ordered a "sample" of weight control pills for $1 S&H late November, 2006. I was billed for the shipping, then noticed subsequent bills of $29.95 beginning in December for "automatic" shipments of product I never received. Several phone calls to 888-829-0637 resulted in the phone just ringing.

Eventually a woman answered the phone with "hello." I asked the name of the company for this 888 number, and she did not answer.I had no idea who or where they were, having only received the number from my bank. I reviewed the charge I received, and she insisted I enrolled in an automatic program for pills. I told her I did not, and never received further shipments. I told her to stop unauthorized use of the debit card, and that I was notifying my bank immediately.

She was surly, unprofessional and threatening. I was quite concerned about that, realizing this might simply be a phone in someone's kitchen. I re-connected with my bank and they credited the charges, pending an investigation. Eventually, I received four credits of $29.95 from this vendor, from 3/12 through 4/6/2007. I thought the matter was over.

This morning I received a letter dated June 27, 2007 from World Wide Enterprises, Inc. There was a phone number on it, 701-663-8327. It stated that I owed $239.85 and was listed for "collection." I called immediately.

The phone was answered "hello." I asked who the person was. He said "Paul." I asked the name of the company. He did not give it. I said I had received a letter from a "company" at this number for a bill I did not owe.
Without any information from me, not an amount, or a account number, or any details, he said I had signed up on the internet for a "weight loss counseling service" at $29.95 a month, and must not have read the "fine print."

I asked to refer to the web site, because I would never have signed up for a "service" and the previous person said I had automatically enrolled for "product." I was not given any information, nor was i offered any assistance in substantiating a charge. I informed him that my bank had already investigated the merit of the charge, and found it bogus. He said i owed the money anyway...I told him I would refer the matter to my attorney.

He said 'go ahead." I asked him "how do you people sleep at night, scamming money from hard-working innocent people who have done nothing to incur a charge, and have received nothing from them....

He said he sleeps very well at night.

Probably true. With our money in his pocket.... smarmy. I will live with a whatever he thinks he can do, including a negative credit report, rather than paying this fraud a penny.
