I had my novel, "White Redling" published with Xlibris Corporation in 2005. At first, it looked good when they sent in royalty reports. But soon, I learned that my brother had bought a copy in Las Vegas and I waited for the sale to be reported to me, but it never happened. I wrote the president of Xlibris Corporation but never got any reply. I phoned their staff--based in the Philippines--but got no relief either.

Meanwhile, one Gary from Xlibris offered me an online promotional package worth $2,000 but I got ZERO result from such "promo." Again, I reported this matter to their staff in the Philippines and again, got no relief.

Later, a friend in Los Angeles showed me a copy he had bought through Amazon.com but such sale was never reported to me. Meanwhile, go Google "White Redling" on the net and you'll see a number of sales outlets, even outside the United States.

In short, I spent years and years making the book, and now some people are reaping in the harvest. Xlibris can sell anytime they want and I won't know a thing.

Mr. Gary Xlibris's Failed $2,000 Marketing

AUTHOR: NESTORIO - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 20, 2010

After I had paid $2,000 to Xlibris's through Mr. Gary for so-called online promotion "targetting hundreds of thousands" and gotten no result, why should I purchase more marketing from them? Does Xlibris really want to drive me to the ground in poverty so they can get richer? How much more thousands and thousands of dollars do I have to pay to Xlibris for the book to "succeed"?

Records show I got good reviews of my novel, "White Redling," even from Kirkus Discoveries, so why did Mr. Gary of Xlibris's marketing department produce zero result from the $2,000 online promotion? Not even ONE online buyer from his vaunted "hundreds of thousands" of targeted market? This stretches the credulity of human mind.

Meanwhile, records would also show that I had personally bought copies of my book from Amazon.com but got no royalty or discount from those sales from Xlibris. Where did such royalty go?

I would gladly concede as a failing writer only after: One, my book did not generate any positive review; Two, that after Mr. Gary's $2,000 online marketing campaign, at least one had bought the book, and Three, that I had received some royalty from my own purchases from Amazon.com.

So, in light of the foregoing facts, is Xlibris not a scam operation?

yeah,,, their is no way for you to verify sales. X-libris covers there but by saying things like, amazon, borders, and barns and noble, do not regularly report sales to them, which i don't believe for a second. I believe that the second a sale is made anywhere, they know about it, "WHY", because barcodes are used right! as long as we authors are kept in the dark, they can take are profits like taking candy from a baby. One suggestion I have for everyone that published with them is,,,check the bar codes on the back of your friends books to see if they match, but there is no proof that they didn't sell your book, and scan another bar code of an inside book that doesn't exist. they could literally have thousands of different bar codes to scan when your book is sold. so all your sale register as one of there own books. This company needs to have someone with a lot of money to hire a team of investigators that will spread out and buy certain books that they are monitoring. Maybe Oprah will do this for us authors, "HELP US OPRAH"! or BILL GATES, I know no-one in our government will help us.
