Recently Xm Satellite radio has sent a big message to its Latino/Latin music subscribers one does not have to be a genius to figure out. They have eliminated 3 of their Latin stations in favor of adding country music, contemporary adult, Punk Rock, Classic alternative, a news station and traffic news channels.

I always thought that if you wanted to hear the traffic reports you go to your local AM stations. Why pay for something that you can get for free?

As a subscriber, for over a year, I can say that at one point Xm had one of the best Latin Stations called Caliente that primarily played salsa music. Now as a result of the aforementioned changes the station has turned "ice cold" and is beginning to incorporate programming changes that will include other music from the stations eliminated.

They claim they are soliciting feedback from their audiences and it's new spineless programming director, in search of his fifteen minutes of fame, goes on the air to tell listeners how the station is going to get better when the reality is that the programming is being compromised.

On the surface here, it appears that the losers here were the listeners of the stations that played Rock in Spanish, Tejano and Spanish top 40 music but it is my opinion that all the listeners who of the Latin programming stations, seeking for specific genres, came out on the short end of the stick. That is why I recently canceled my prepaid yearly subscription.

While the population of Hispanics in America continues to grow XM decision makers have turned it's back on them. That is why I say they are going to be the big losers. If you also recently canceled your Xm subscription for similar reasons don't be selfish; share your story... A message needs to be sent to these fools.

If you are a Latino who was thinking about becoming a member to listen to only Tejano, Salsa, Spanish Rock... forget about it you'll be ripped-off, your better off with your free Fm station. They will also mix and match but you don't have to pay for it.
