As I was doing a search on Google Chrome for a vehicle, a full screen pop-up took over my ability to continue. The message states that my computer has been hacked and I must call this number 877-667-7972 to remove it. The people who answer sound like they're in India, but claim to be in Salt Lake City. There is probably a phone relay to India, but they can remove it for $369!!! I said "why would I pay you to remove a virus you caused to infect my computer"? They deny it, but I didn't fall for that. The next day I called Webroot, and they said to depress Ctrl/Alt/Delete at the same time. A new window appears, I selected Google Chrome and hit "end program". Voila! The pop-up was gone. I didn't pay YAY, or Staples who wanted $159 to fix it either! I immediatelt renewed my Webroot anti-virus subscription though. If this happens to you too, report it. It's a crime!

If you paid them any money you were ripped off! What was it, $369.00? That is the amount they quoted me. What could you have purchased instaed? A few key strokes on my computer resolved the problem. But don't feel too bad, they must have scammed hundreds of frightened dopes by now. |

Why not post your company info, such as address, phone#, and other important info? You stole the name YAY from someone else so that it would be difficult to track you down. You have stolen from people whose computers you infected. There should be a class action suit against you!

The rip off complaint in question sounds like what i may be going through now with YAY services, the same pop up window claiming i have been hacked and my computer is now unusable until it is "inspected' and repaired for $99. There was no explanation of how this hacking was discovered or reported to YAY, all reps of the company were certainly east asian and i am waiting to hear from them.
By the way, i paid for the service. Very, very suspicious.

I was attempting to log on to a site I visit frequently when I got the same pop-up window. Thinking it was MS tech support since my laptop is less than a month old, I became suspicious when they began discussing payment for services. When I questioned them and said I would call my Antivirus company, the high pressure sales and fear tactics started.
