Please beware of this company.  Check the BBB or contact the Illinois AG's office to verify.  They'll get the job done, but you'll be charged at least 3x the going rate.  You pay up front for the estimate, then get a huge number dropped on you to perform the job.  No price breakdown.  No explanation.  Just a "contract" that forces you to waive your rights to all disputes without explaining your rights.

I was charged over $800 to replace a simple ball valve on a water line.  I accepted because I'm not a plumber and figured there was more to it.  Afterward, I checked.  The parts retail for about $10.  See http://www.homedepot.com/Plumbing-Pipes-Fittings-Valves/h_d1/N-5yc1vZbqpf/R-202300077/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053.  The guy took less than an hour to do the job.  And several other reputable places that compete have priced a similar job under 300.

When I challenged the company on it, I got a long flowery letter explaining that I was responsible for all of their costs of business, including their uniforms, the gas in their trucks, etc.  Who cares about that!!!  They also explained that people who give free estimates or charge by the hour cannot be trusted and are crooks.  Really?  Show me where I can find them!  Their "criminal ways" would have saved me hundreds in this case.

This ship has sailed and the bill is paid.  But I am through with this company and I recommend you not get started with them.

Waiting to hear about a ripoff.

"  You pay up front for the estimate, then get a huge number dropped on you to perform the job."

What am I missing?   They gave you a huge estimate and you accepted it.   Isn't the point of getting an estimate to find out how much a particular company will charge to do the job?  Isn't that exactly what they did?

If you were too lazy to shop around before handing over your cash, it seems a bit disingenuous to be complaining about the price after the fact.   Basically, you are comparing the actual price charged by a real plumbing company to mythical prices quoted by the competition after the fact, without seeing the  actual job.

So, what makes you think the competitors (who want your business) weren't just making up figures to make this company look bad.    Are you so gullible that you believe them?   I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of you on this site.

Here is yet another dolt who gets a quote, agrees to it, gets the job done and THEN shops around and gets prices from people who have never seen the job.

Ridiculous, you should be ashamed o yourself.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

We're sorry you still feel bad

AUTHOR: Mark Brennan - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 04, 2011

While we operate our company to extremely high standards of quality and service, we recognize that we cannot please everyone, all the time.

In this case, after voluminous correspondence via telephone and US Mail, we were unable to offer this client anything that would appease him or allow him to feel like he has been fairly treated.  Our offer of a $150 gift certificate good toward any future service was rejected out of hand as was our offer to apply for no interest financing for this client and our offer of membership in our maintenance club (at a cost of $95 for setup)which would have saved him $119.15 on his very first repair.

This would have also entitled him to 2  visits a year for free scheduled  maintenance on his plumbing system and water heater.

Unfortunately, all the things the writer doesn't care about such as truck expense and uniforms (there are, of course, many other expenses in running a business), are real costs that MUST be passed on in the cost of the job to the consumer. (Just as the cost of the light bill in his office must be included in his hourly billing rate).

And, would any reader be surprised that our competitors, without ever visiting the job site, claim that they can "name that tune" in  fewer notes?

Suffice to say that the writer was charged the exact same price we charged every other person who ever had this job done, regardless of his status as an attorney.

In other words, just as we did with this client, we always provide our pricing before we start any work, from our flat rate price book, provided by our State of Illinois Licensed plumbers at the time of service.  Everybody pays the same price regardless of profession or social standing.

In  reference to time spent,  regardless of the amount of time it takes us to do any particular repair, we guarantee the price will not go up.

So whether the client gets a fast plumber or slow plumber the price is always the same

If travel time is long or short, the price is always the same.

If we don't have the right parts on the truck, (we almost always do), and have to go get them, the price is always the same.

This is a major  feature of the way we do business that keeps our happy clients returning time after time.

This is the main reason our long list of happy clients is so long.  (For anyone who's interested in reading some testimonials, go to www.yesplumbing.net/testimonials.php).

And speaking of time, we pride ourselves on respect for the client's time.  That's why we stock over $20,000 worth of repair parts and fixtures on our trucks....to insure that we have the materials necessary  to complete almost all repairs the very same day.....without ever having to leave the client's home.

We answer the phones with live employees, not an answering machine, so our clients get the personal service they demand.

We also offer the best guarantees in the business (2 years 100% labor and material on repairs and up to lifetime labor and materials on installed equipment like water heaters).

There are over 18 more reasons why clients use us more for this type of work and much, much, more.

YES! Plumbing is the "Mercedes" of plumbing service companies in our area and we recognize that not all consumers are a good fit for those types of services and guarantees.

Obviously, this was not a good fit and we regret that the writer is not happy with the price.

Buyer's remorse is always a very difficult problem to deal with, since, if a company charges a fair price based on its costs of doing business and applies a fair profit to those costs, there is really no way it can move on price.

Again, we are sorry that we were unable to make the writer happy and wish him the best of luck in the future with all his plumbing needs.
