Zenith Acquisitions Has anyone heard of this company? Amherst New York

Here is my situation back in 2003, I made a settlement with a creditor through another collection agency. About 5 months ago, I started recieving calls from Zenith. I almost gave in and paid them a settlement fee because I was paying down some credit card debit from some other accounts. When I asked them what creditor they were collecting for, I immediately remembered settling this account several years ago.

I asked the collection agent how long they had my account and was told since Jun 07. I asked what took them so long to contact me? I was told, they sent an initial mail notice as early as Dec 07. Whatever the case, I was livid that a collection agency was trying to collect on a debit twice and was trying to offer me a discount settlement amount too. I was also told that when they recieved the debit it was 150.00 dollars but do to laste fees ect I now owed 455.00 dollars and that they were willing to settle my account for 320.00 dollars. I had remembered seeing the alleged creditor account recently(from 2003) on my recently pulled credit report and the account was closed and listed as a charge off. I was so so mad. I asked them if I paid them, what would not stop some other collection agency from calling me in the future trying to collect again? They said it would'nt.

There is nothing indicating this account (with Zenith) is in collections on my credit report either. I flat out told them that I know this account is almost at it's seven year mark and should drop off my report soon and that I am not giving them another red cent! I told them I don't care how much they call me. I actually now do not ever answer when they call and just delete their messages when they leave them. These people are sneaky, nasty and very rude. To add insult to injury they asked me to send them copies of my "proof of payment" to the other collection agency, from like 5 years ago!! I was like whatever and told them why don't they call the credit card company I owed the money to and verify that the debit is paid.

I also asked them why when I call the credit card company to verify this debit Zenith says I owe the company says I no longer have an existing account. I told Zenith if I was going to pay anymore money I would pay it directly to the credit card company and not to them....So currently they continue to harass me.

From speaking to a credit card company, Zenith buys a bunch of accounts, usually ones that aren't making the company money (slow pay, or low balance) sometimes they get ones that are grouped together. They try and use scare tactics to get you to send them money, before you do pull your credit report and make sure they are legitimate, some of these companies go after accounts that are over 10 years old
