If HRS sent their bills in time for me to PAY them on time...

AUTHOR: Geneva - ()

POSTED: Friday, September 06, 2002

I have an HRS card through Jordan's furniture. I regularly receive my bill 3-5 days before it's due. I have complained several times and get the answer that it is "automated billing" and is sent out "in plenty of time". Now I know maybe Boston, MA is "rural" compared to some places, but it should NOT take them that long for me to get the bill AND I've received a late charge nearly every month I've paid it by mail(13x's once credited as a "good faith gesture". I send my bill directly back to them as soon as I recieve it, but somehow the never receive it "on time" and the check consistently clears the day after the due date.

I went so far as to just get the billing address and sent them a payment in a plain envelope. It took 14 days for the payment to post...you guessed it...a day late.

I finally gave up and sucked it up and I pay them EVERY SINGLE MONTH by phone and pay the $10. I hate them and I'm currently refinancing my home just to pay them off. They truly are HORRIBLE. I believe that their business practices are just shy of illegal and probably illegal in some cases.

The person charged with late fees said the check cleared their bank one day before the due date. The payment should have posted to the HRS account within 24 hours, not 5 days later. Another HRS rip-off of late fees and an excuse to raise their already high interest rates.

I had an account with HRS. No way could I wait for their statement in the mail and use it to make my payments on time. I kept a photocopy of an earlier statement to mail in order to make my "timely" payment.

I have since paid the account off and closed it "at customer request". HRS was nothing but trouble. Now before I finance any purchases, I inquire about the financier. If financing is provided by HRS, I walk out and shop elsewhere. I also let the sales and management know why they lost the sale.

Pay Your Bills On-Time!

AUTHOR: Brandon - ()

POSTED: Sunday, June 30, 2002

You blame HRS for your late fees, however, did you ever think that maybe you should mail in your payments a few days earlier than you have been? It's well withing the credit granters right to charge a late fee when you are just one day late, and it's also their right to not refund you back. When the post office was going slow because of Anthrax that was a reason to credit you back, and they did, but now it's your responsibility. If you can't pay your bills on time close your account! Or shut up about the late fees!

Late fee rip off & over the phone payment not explained

AUTHOR: Maurice - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 11, 2002

I made a payment by mail that was processed by them on 3/12/02. The payment was due on the 3/13/02. I was hit with a late fee on 3/17/02 for 29.00. When I called in to have this removed they had updated there menu options to include that you can now make payments by phone. I took that into account and decided that the next time I made a payment I would do so via the phone in option.

So its now 4/11/02 and I called in to make the payment, only to find out that there will be a 10.00 charge for the service. I spoke with several of there "fine custoer service reps". Tried to explain that because of them not giving full details on their pay by phone option that they should waive the 10.00 charge, and that going forward I would know that their is a charge for this service.

I was told that they would not waive the fee becuase I did not listen to all the recording in regards to the payment option. It's like they don't know that the only time you get the full detail it when you select to use the option.

They either need to update there menu to include the fact that there will be a 10.00 fee or have it noted on their bills of the fee. I have had there services since 1996 and will be cancelling it today. They don't know good customer service and also don't care about the customer that they serve.

Late Fees

AUTHOR: April - ()

POSTED: Friday, April 05, 2002

I signed up with HRS a year ago through David's Bridal and I've had 2 or 3 late fees since Oct, when our post office (Brentwood) was closed due to Anthrax, HRS had credited me 1 late fee, but I have sent them a letter (from our Postmaster) and called numerous times to get my other late fees credited, because we have no control on how our mail was being delivered. I think it's kinda strange that it takes almost 2 weeks for them to credit my payment, when it's only going 1 state away. I finally gave up and paid a $10 processing fee to pay over the phone and I think this company needs to get with the times and have on-line payments.
