Rented storage unit in November for remodel and move. Received call in Feb. advising of accident in Warehouse & requesting our presence.Discovered container had been dropped approx.18' and forklift had rolled over container ripping and crushing container & contents. They requested we ascertain damages but too dangerous-unstable container with many sharp edges. We demanded they unpack which required several days to hire as our belongings sat about the warehouse. Took many pictures.Submitted itemized list and replacement costs of approx.$10,600, plus cost of paying contractor to accompany me & help as I am disabled. Warehouse mgr. promised resolution in 2 weeks. This is April. We have been dodged, referred to other individuals who again do not respond. Our estimate has been misquoted. Promised rental reimbursement has not appeared. Employee who wrecked forklift was fired before we were called two days after incident. We have contacted Charlotte, Wake Forrest NC, Bethesda Md., and many individuals. We have called and written. Our emails are ignored. We are nearly ready to close on new home. We need reimbursement and apology. This is no way to run a company.

Seriously?

I did receive a message that PackRat was working on our claim - they made an offer for less than half of the damages ONLY if I sign a complete GAG order preventing me from talking or suing. I would have been happy to sign a somewhat similar document had I been reimbursed for all damages in a timely and polite manner. Less than half the actual damages will not replace the items I need that were destroyed by a careless employee we were told was not even trained. Less than half will not pay for the stress and discomfort I continue to suffer. One should not have to insure against malicious damage by untrained employees of the company hired to safeguard one's household possessions.

I forgot to mention that the Warehouse Manager TOLD us that the forklift driver had not been trained and had been fired before he even called us. The wrecked forklift had been set back upright before we arrived.
I am sick from stress and worry, cannot sleep, chronic pain is worse than usual. Packrat refuses requests for contacts, addresses & direct numbers. Will not even pay the basic insured rate we paid for unless we sign a 'gag' order. Cannot afford to replace household items we trusted them to store.
