ARA Inc. ARA It! Debt collection is a scam, don't fall for it! Villa Park Illinois

Received a letter in the mail today from this "debt collection agency" calling itself ARA Inc. It says that they have recently obtained and are now the legal owner of my "household bank prime option account" whatever that's supposed to mean. It said to please remit a check immediately for the amount of $2,043.73. The letter goes on to state that I should attempt to call Mark Farmer at extension 3402 if I cannot pay the balance in full. Also, if I do not pay within 30 days, they will assume the debt is valid and a judgement will be entered against me. I call the number on the letter, and ask for Mark Farmer and extension 3402. They asked to confirm my identity, the scary part is they already had my full social security number. I didn't confirm to them whether or not that was my number, but they had it, they were correct. The account number on the letter also matches an old Master Card that I used to have, one that I settled and paid off 5 years ago. They put me on hold, supposedly to transfer me to the extension I asked for, yet I end up talking to another woman. I asked her questions, and she is trying to say that it is MasterCard from a time period that I didn't even own a MasterCard. As I try to point this out to her and call them out that they were caught, she hung up on me. I did a Google search, and sure enough, there's a bunch more fraud claims against this "company." Don't be intimidated or fooled by the semi-official appearance of the letter, and the scary language in it.
