If you have been offered a loan by Citifinancial Auto or any other of their subsidiaries, don't do it! Seriously, these people are totally unethical.

Like most folks lately, I am past due on my payment due to lost of income.

My payment is due on the 18th of each month, so when I realized that I was going to be late with my March payment, I called Citifinancial Auto to make arrangements and was stunned into silence when I realized they had no intention of helping me. They demanded a payment immediately or they were going to have to 'make a business decision' that day. When I asked exactly what 'make a business decision' meant, Lisa became very sarcastic and said 'what do you think it means?' I knew what it meant, they were playing intimidation games. One would think that a company whose shares are $2.76 at the time of writing complaint, would be bending over backwards to help their customers who are not even 30 past due. To think, I actually felt sorry for Citigroup and made every attempt do what I thought was helping them.

Lisa was rude, constantly over talking me when I would try to answer her questions and she would ask me to lower my voice when I had to raise my voice to be heard while she over talked me. When I'd stop talking, she would stop; when I'd start talking, she would start talking again. These people are very well trained to intentional infuriate the customer in an attempt to make the customer loose their temper. It works! She threatened to hang up, but never did.

I received a voice mail from DeMill Bradford on March 31 stating that it was urgent that I call. I called. Never did get to talk to DeMill. I talked to Tony Kong and was passed to James and then to Michelle in an attempt to intimidate me because I could not make my payment that day. Each claimed to be an Account Manager, each was rude, over talked me and tried to belittle and intimidate me. It didn't work; it only made me frustrated. I'm 50 years old, been around the block a few times and knew exactly what they were doing. Each tried to tell me that I never called on the 18th of March. I knew they were lying.

I finally told Michelle I need to talk to my husband. I decided I would talk to my Attorney first. I took my loan papers with me. He knew all about Citifiancial Auto and told me they had a terrible reputation. He asked me how much I really wanted to keep my truck and I asked him why. He told me that 6 years is a long time to pay on a used vehicle. Six years???? The papers I signed at the dealership were for 42 months - 3 1/2 years! That's when he went over the loan papers with me.

I had received the loan papers by mail about 5 days after I bought the truck and honestly didn't think I needed to review the papers. My mistake! At the dealership, in the Finance manager's office I went over every detail of the loan. The terms were 42 months at 9% financing $14,850.

The contract I received in the mail was for 72 at 18% financing $17,850. To make matters worse, they tacked on $2500 for extended warranty and $492 for life insurance both of which I had refused. Seems the dealership was scheming and scamming customers with extended warranties and life insurance while directing loans to Citi when customers actually qualified for good bank loans. My bank doesn't make loans on used vehicles three years and older, but the dealership said they would get me a great loan. Not exactly true.

I talk to my husband and our attorney and our opinion is that since it appears that Citi has ethics problems, we will Surrender the vehicle. I refuse to pay 6 years on a vehicle that was 3 years old when I bought it. I thought I was only one year away from paying off my truck, instead, I have 3 1/2 more to pay on a vehicle that will be nine years old when I pay it off. Not what I agreed to when I signed the papers for a 42 month loan. The thought of dealing with Citi for 3 1/2 more years is ludicrous. Yes, I know it will ruin my credit, but I refuse to get another loan and have plans to pay cash for my next car. Meanwhile, I have my choice of used cars to drive. They may not be as dependable, but I will not deal with Citi and their attitude another day.

On March 31, I call Citi to tell them to come get the truck. I finally get to speak to DeMill Bradford. How amazing is that? It's like a 180 degree change in attitude. He's willing to help. I can make my payment on the 8th and he will defer 3 months just so I can have a little breathing room. Hmmm, very strange. I talk to him for over an hour. He's friendly and helpful, which my gut feeling tells me is very suspicious.

Today, April 2, I get another call from Citi. This time it's Tony Kong. Important that I call him right away. I'm thinking, 'What now!' I go to my Attorney's office so he can hear the conversation. When I get to his office, there is a police officer there and my attorney asks him to stay as a witness. He agrees and I make the call.

I call Citi. Never get to talked to Tony even though I asked to speak to him and DeMill. The first person I speak to tells me there is nothing on my account in the computer about my payment arrangements with DeMill on March 31st. Now I'm very upset. This person is rude, over talks me...you know the drill by now. I hangup and my attorney tells me to call back. In total I called 5 times.

The first 4 people I talked to swore I that there were no payment arrangements on my account in the computer and basically told me I was lying. They all had the exact same rude, intimidating, ridiculous attitude.

My 5th call is to tell them to come get the truck. I talk to Lisa. She is rude, condescending...blah, blah, blah. She asks me why I don't want to honor my arrangements and I tell her about the first 4 Citi reps who insisted there were no arrangements. Low and behold, she sees the arrangements on my account in the computer that I made with DeMill on March 31st. What the ....? These people play strangest games and what purpose does it serve? It makes them look seriously unprofessional and out of control.

I tell her to come get the truck and inform her that I have the call on a speaker phone and have my daughter, attorney and a police officers listening. She suddenly becomes very quiet and her attitude changes just slightly. She ask me if I understand the legal consequences of surrendering my vehicle and I tell her I do and she asks me if there is anything else she can help me with and I tell her 'no! Good bye!' and hangup.

Please be careful when dealing with Citifinancial Auto. Record your conversations and inform them you will take legal action.
