They took $1200 plus $460+ a month for a 10 year old car with 120,000 + miles on it (yes I take responsibility for driving off the lot with it but I was told I could trade it in no problem; never mentioned ANOTHER DOWNPAYMENT). When I was 5 days late because 1. my dad had a stroke and I was dealing with it 2.) I was locked in a jury situation for 10+ hours a day THEY TOOK MY CAR.
I had made partial payments at 10 pm at night which amounted to the total that made my account current they said "you made partial payments" ; I did this because I was locked in a room all day and it was what I had on me. They lied from the very beginning and want $500 at every turn to 1, change payment dates if you change jobs or 2.) trade in your car. I got THREATENED by the repo company and they stole a gift card out of my purse to the tune of $500 (I filed a police report).
And they said because I "wasn't cooperative" during the whole repo experience they wanted to part ways and wouldn't allow me to get my car back. On top of that the repo company said they "were being nice" giving me my purse back and my medication. They kept thousands of dollars of work related material & my android phone. If you don't believe me and think I'm sour because you think I didn't pay my bill I will tell you I have paid off 10 cars with no problems EVER. I can prove it and I invite you to contact me so that I can show you proof. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!!!!

Available excuses for not mailing payment:
The Glendale post office ran out of stamps.
Walmart ran out of envelopes.
I spent the night in Taco Bell because they locked the doors while I was in the bathroom.
I got lost while looking for my Frisbee in Griffith Park.
My camel’s hump is missing.

Guess what Einstein they don't take payments by mail so you really need to shut your pie hole; they take payments online and at Walmart and Kmart - again you have no idea what you are talking about and if you knew anything they take away your phones when you go in to serve; I also was dealing with my father's doctors and their wish to amputate his feet. obviously you haven't served and are one of those people that sit your fat a** in a chair and judge everything without doing a thing - GO AWAY

Subprime borrowers always have an excuse

Jury duty is not an acceptable excuse for failing to pay the full payment due on the loan. You knew in advance about the jury duty and you could have mailed in your payment because there is a USPS mailbox in front of every courthouse.

I had the car two months so you really are an idiot; because you can't comprehend what you read is no fault of mine. And btw they told me I had a certain time petood I could trade the vehicle in any time with no additional money/downpayment. Maybe you should get educated before you speak; go to Drivetime get lied to and talk to me again. You admit you know very little about this so again GO AWAY!!!

I didn't say I left my purse/wallet in the car during jury duty Einstein and I know exactly how financing works. I have also dealt with "sub-prime" lenders during my divorce and never had this problem. The facts you are picking at have nothing to do with Drivetime's predatory lending practices and isnt helping the next person from being a victim of Drivetime; there were several people at the repo lot who lost their vehicles; I am trying to provide a warning and a service here and you are just being a miserable pr*k; if I could block you I would. Now shut up and move on to another "cause". Just go away you serve no purpose

You still don't seem to understand how financing a vehicle is different from buying a vehicle

First of all, I am a consumer. I don't work for Drivetime or any other dealership.
But, I can see holes in your story that would call the entire story into question. No one leaves their purse in a car and goes to jury duty all day long. It just isn't done. That statement alone calls into question your veracity on the entire story.
But lets assume that you are somewhat truthful on the rest of the story. You blow it when you say you have paid off 10 cars in your lifetime and then question the requirement for a down payment with your tradein vehicle. Look up financing a vehicle and you will see, the better credit you have, the less you have to put down on the purchase. Conversly, the worse credit you have the more you will have to put down to mitigate the lenders risk.
With a repo, you are a huge risk to any lender. Even one like Drivetime. You have already proven to them that you use any excuse to not make your payment. It was so bad for so long that they eventually had to repo your vehicle due to non-payment. And you want to know why they want a down payment from you for another purchase? Give me a break.

Guess what dickhead I made arrangements and I was lied to every step of the way; I was paid up except for $100 that wasnt part of the "agreement" I made with Drivetime so shut your pie hole you arrogant p***k you don't know what you are talking about. They don't send out statements they didn't register the car in my name because thet didn't have time to go to the DMV and I got pulled over 3 times because of their unprofessionalism; it's the most disgusting car compant isn't I have ever worked with; no one is perfect but taking my car because it was their mistake - unconscionable.

- Hey Einstein...guess what it doesn't matter if you paid off 1000 cars. The fact is that you were LATE on this car and got your car reposessed. Of course if you have something in writing or some magic law that you know about that is like one of those club cards where you buy 10 sandwiches and get the 11th for free except for cars..please post a copy of it.
By the way you may have paid off 10 cars, but I can just about guarantee you were not on-time with those lenders. Oh and how do I know. Well Drivetime is a Sub-Prime Lender for people who have proven they can not handle credit. The only people that go there are sub-prime borrowers who probably have at least a few late payments, most likely a collection account or two, and may even have judgements or a bankruptcy as well.
And don't try to pull the "Well...why I had credit issues this time are not my fault"...because guess what...that is another tactic used by Sub-Prime borrowers who do not want to take the blame for their actions....and so the cycle repeats. Which is why we have your current excuse of "Oh poor me I was locked in a jurry room for 10+ hours a day". Wow...I guess Glendale must have a wonderful court system and really pushing out those cases. As I am also in SoCal and the last time I was on Jury Duty it didn't start until 9, we were out by 4 and had a good 90 minutes for lunch and probably 2 or 3 other 20-30 minute breaks during the day..oh yea and we had Friday's off.
Now, just a few other things. First of all until you have paid off the entire loan it is NOT your car. They hold the title and can "reposess" it if you become delinquent. Where contrary to what you think there is no law that says you have to be a certain number of days late before they can do that. Also, once they reposess it they actually have the legal right to "call" the loan. Meaning that they can require you to come up with the entire balance before they release the car. Where if you fail to do that they will sell it at auction.
Oh and no I do not now, or have I ever worked for this or any other dealer or finance company.
