Our account was set up by a sales person 'Arie'. I made sure that whatever we spoke on the phone, documented through emails. We have received our refurbished terminal (sales person never mentioned that it will be a refurbished equipment) around Thanksgiving time, without Welcome package or instructions.

We were able to set up the machine on Dec 04, 2007 by contacting customer service. Also, the first transaction was processed with the help of CS.

First damage - Charged $50 at the end of November 2007. Even though, we never received the Welcome package and instructions to setup the machine

2. I had to call and talk to Sales Person and then Customer Service Representative to get $50 credit, since the machine was never initiated.

3. The promised rate for swiping PCARD (since we work with Government Agencies) was 1.55%, Manual Entry was 1.99%

4. We have received the monthly statement for the month of Dec 2007 around first week of January 2008

5. Today, 01/12/08 - was going through the transaction and statement. First Data Charged 3.9%. When I called the CS, they said I made a mistake of entering the data (what data - it was amount, invoice/reference number, Zip code, no taxes and that's it). I tried to call my sales person (he left the company - really, what a surprise), I tried to supervisor and manager and there is no help.

6. The manager said that someone will call me on Monday, Jan 14, 2008

Right now, I feel that this is a big SCAM, cheating people.
I will update!

Hello Srini:
I'm sorry for your problems, i been involved in the merchant services for some time now.
What you saying, sadly is the most usual problem in our industry nowadays, we call it "bait and switch", they give you a rate too good to be true.
Whoever quoted you doesn't know (or didn't told you) that visa/MC has an interchange (network) fee, based on that interchange, the companies based their profits.
If you look at that table (is public info, and you can download it from v/mc) you'll note that the cheapest that v/mc charges for gobermental cards is around 2.2% (you need to add your profit on top of that), and a really good deal for you would be around 2.7%
if you have any question, post a reply and i will give you my contact info.
