Freedom Van Lines! They grossly underestimated my quote in order to charge me almost 3 times the quote in the end and deliver when they said they would. Dallas Texas

If you are choosing a mover in the Dallas area, it will benefit you to steer clear of Freedom Van Lines. They quoted me a figure that ended up being three times less than what it actually was the day of the move. They also said my items would be delivered door-to-door with next day delivery, but I didn't receive my things until 8 days later. When you try to file a complaint with the owner/manager, he will not call you back despite the numerous emails and messages you leave. They have provided no sort of compensation.

They are scam artists- they know perfectly well that when someone is moving, they are between a rock and a hard place. Because even though they gave me a price three times as much and informed me it wouldn't be door to door as promised at the time of booking, there really wasn't anything I could do about it. My lease was up that day and I had to be out of the apartment. So they know they can pretty much force you into paying whatever they say, especially if you're moving out of state.

I have worked in customer service for years and their service is simply appalling. The man who delivered my stuff was awesome, but he was an independent driver that they used, he didn't work specifically for them. The people who are answering the phones are not helpful, though. They are friendly enough, but when I made two calls a day for eight days asking when I'd get my items, they would always answer "tomorrow or the next day." They are unorganized and have no idea how to answer a customer complaint because they simply don't answer! I have filed a complaint with the BBB, disputed the charge, and the owner still hasn't called me back despite my many emails and messages! Apparently he is the only one who can handle any sort of compensation, so just goes to show how horrible their service is and how non-responsive they are if you have a problem.

I have done three out of state moves with professional movers before, and this one was just ridiculous. I wish I had read other reviews before booking with them, and hopefully you will stay away from them if you need movers! In hindsight, I would've rather strapped every single piece of furniture to my back and WALKED the 500 miles than had this experience.

File a Complaint with the FMCSA

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 22, 2008

You should file with the FMCSA. It won't help in the sense that you'll get any money back, but a complaint with the Feds on one of their databases may also preclude someone else from making the same mistake as you did. This is one of those lessons where getting a quote from one of the large reputable movers would have triggered a question in your mind before choosing these guys....
