Jennifer Convertibles Misrepresented Finance Option, Over-Billed us. Ripoff! King Of Prussia Pennsylvania

My husband and I purchased a leather sofa, chair and ottoman from Jennifer Convertibles on October 2, 2004. The series of mistakes and errors that has followed is unbelievable. The following, believe it or not, is an abbreviated version highlighting the key points.

First they misrepresented a financing deal. We were told we would receive 0% interest for 12 months on one Jennifer Convertibles card. We have received 2 separate credit cards; one carries you for 3 months with no interest, the second carries you for 6 months with no interest. That's only 9 months if and only if we transfer the balance from one card to another.

Second our delivery was screwed up. When we made the purchase we were given a delivery date for October 7th, just five days from the date of purchase. Should have been suspicious, but we weren't. Anyway, no furniture on the 7th. Jennifer Convertibles promised us a call within 24 hours with a new delivery date. No explanation, just a new date. We did get a call and a new delivery date for the 14th. So we waited.

Surprisingly a delivery van showed up rather early on the 14th with our furniture, well, sort of. They had the sofa and chair, but no ottoman. When asked the delivery guy says the ottoman had been cancelled. (By Whom!) He immediately borrows my phone to call his dispatcher who tells me the ottoman is on backorder and did I want to refuse delivery. Since we'd been a week without furniture I accepted this explanation and took the sofa and chair and decided to wait for the ottoman which arrived the following day.

Why didn't anyone know about the backorder when we called the first time? Since we received the ottoman the very next day, couldn't the entire delivery have been made then? Jennifer Convertibles claims to have no communication with their delivery company. This statement elicits many questions, too many to list here.

Third, two days after we made our purchase we were called back to the store to make an additional $106 payment - had something to do with the 0%/12 month deal which at the time we still thought we were getting... At any rate, this $106 payment has never been applied to our remaining purchase price (minus tax & delivery) charged to the first credit card. On several occasions we have spoken to the regional manager who's only response is "I'll look into it", or "I don't know why this is happening".

At my breaking point with this woman I let a certain four letter word slip into our "friendly" conversation and was then told she didn't need to help me any furthur, that she was not to be cursed at. Hmf! Shouldn't a good customer service representative sit there and take whatever a disgruntled customer has to offer and still find ways to accomodate, and fix a situation?

It has been a series of mistakes, misrepresentations, and I believe flat out lies with this company. This report only covers part of our difficulties. As you may assume, no reasonable offers to rectify this situation, including returning/refunding, have been made by Jennifer Convertibles.

I am cheered to read about previous lawsuits and a declining stock.
