Be Aware Of Kay Jewelers Instore Sales Team

I signed up for Kay Card in July. I knew that I had to pay some amount upfront and then everything else was on Kay card. I was okay with this and I knew it but then I saw I was charged a fee of 35$. I spoke to the Kay credit team and got it waved off. This took 1 month and a few calls and a dozen emails.

But the problem started in Sept when I made a purchase of a ring. Same-store same issue.

I bought a ring from them for 700$ and I kept on saying the instore sales girl if there were any hidden charges if I put this in my KAY Jewellers Card and she kept on saying NO. I could have put that on my regular credit card and be done with them. But as she said no hidden charges no interest, I agreed to put that 700$ in my Kay card.

I don't check the statement every month. As I was checkings statement in Dec I saw I was being charged 15$ every month Interest. Reached out to credit card team of Kay Jewellers. After few back and forth email, they stopped emailing. I called them in Jan and they stated they closed the dispute and sent postal mail. I was shocked to hear that as my preferred method of communication is email and how can you close the dispute and not let me know via preferred method of communication.  received letter from CREDIT CARD TEAM OF KAY JEWELLER a few days back which practically states "MR. CUSTOMER WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU. YOU SIGNED UP WE WILL CHARGE YOU INTEREST".

I was stunned seeing this reply from Kay Jewellers credit card team. I took this to Kay corporate and got hold of them. They said they will look at it and someone from the area management team of Kay Jeweller will call for resolution. After waiting 10 days for the call, I called them today again and I was escalated to supervisor in customer support.

After a long discussion with the Supervisor, one thing he said "we can't waive off the interest charge you are paying" because you signed up. I kept on explaining them it's bigger than money. I was lied by your store sales rep and due to which I am paying an additional 15$ per month. The supervisor said you pay off what you owe and we will refund you the interest paid in terms of gift cards.

I do not want KAY gift card because I am done with these people. They have broken the trust not once but twice now. And why would I want a gift card from them for their store when I am paying hard earned money.

All I wanted was a resolution email or letter stating, Dear Customer we don't care about you or Dear customer here is the resolution and we at Kay Jeweller are sorry for all the trouble you had to go through.

Mr. Supervisor at Kay Customer support team stated, he can't send me such written statement but is noted in my case file. I asked how do I access the file and he stated, I can't. If I want to access the file send supena through lawyers.

Kay Jewelers team are all over you trying to sell but when you have an issue, they are not accessible. I was trying to re-enforce that their credit team and in-store sales team have a lack of communication or their in-store sales team have some motive to sign the customer up for interest-based payment.  Thank you Kay Jewellers for the amazing support where you made me feel stupid, angry and cheated. You guys have done a great job on that.

My journey with you guys as a customer ends with these two purchase. I do not deal with a company who has such bad ethics and poor customer support. I will personally never ever buy from KAY Jewelers or any of Kay Jeweller Associates.

NOTE TO CORPORATE : I asked for resolution for a month a asked for support from you guys. I put in my time to reach out to you guys for solution. No one bothered to get back to me and here i am forced to use public medium to express.

Oh yes the typical "You must work for them". Well sorry to burst what ever narrative you have going but I have not now or have I ever worked for them or any jewlery store.  But I will say your justification is quite humerous even though it is basically impossible to fit the story you are trying to show.

You originally stated...
I don't check the statement every month

Then you stated...
That was not because I was late to pay but because I didn't receive the statement from you guys on time for 1st Payment.

Really, so I guess we are just supposed to believe that you would have read THAT statment had you received it. Perhaps you are one who sees a statment and then thinks to themselves..."Nope I don't think I am going to open that statement this month...perhaps next month". Perhaps it is even a case of wonding if you don't review your statements every month, how do we know you didn't just "miss it"?

Yes I am sure in your mind it is all very logical and makes total sense. To the rest of the world it is just one more "excuse" to try and blame someone else for your inaction.  Actually they were a lot more forgiving as they seemed to give you the benefit of the doubt in crediting you the $35 late fee.

Yes, i asked multiple times if there are any hidden charges. Yes, I didn't spend time reading the document as I believed in sales lady and i assumed she answered me truthfully.
- Unless you have something showing you were charged a fee that was not disclosed in some manner, she did answer you truthfully. All of the charges are disclosed, it is just up to you to decide to read them. Since you don't feel you need to read any sort of terms of what you are agreeing to, did you at least ask
when your first payment would be due? Did you ask how much that payment would be? Did you ask how long you had to pay it off with the waived interest charges? Did you ask if you had to make a minimum payment every month?  Did you ask ANYTHING other than some useless and meaningless question such as "Oh are there any hidden charges". Don't bother answering your update makes it quite clear on the answer.

I have already requested your credit team to send me the final invoice for this particular dispute so that I can make the payment in one shot and be done with Kay Jewellers forever.
- Let's just hope that this is one of the months you decide to open your statements.

If only your CS team was as amazing as you to reply fast enough. I had to spend hours to get through them and finally had to give up. This whole thing started in Dec 2018 and even yesterday I had to spend hours trying to reach out to Kay Jewellers. Nothing was initiated from Kay Jewellers ends to reach out to resolve it. Your credit team closed the dispute and sent a postal letter when my preferred mode of communication is via email and they never bothered to contact me after that.

Yes, i understand how credit works and I understand how hidden charges are. I agree I made the mistake of believing and trusting in Kay Jewellers and your team. That's my mistake and i learned my lesson.

Replying to your exact points:

1. I don't check the statement every month. Because I believe in people and what people inform me. I believe which is my mistake.

2. 35$ yes was late fee. That was not because I was late to pay but because I didn't receive the statement from you guys on time for 1st Payment. Post that I have subscribed it to be sent over email. I am always on time to make payments.

3. Yes, i asked multiple times if there are any hidden charges. Yes, I didn't spend time reading the document as I believed in sales lady and i assumed she answered me truthfully. As this was not my first transaction with that store and i have been to that store a couple of time, i assumed the sales people of Kay Jewellers would give an honest answer.

I understand it was my fault that I believed in Kay Jewellers and thought Kay Jewellers were more than just a Jewellery shoe and hoped that Kay Jeweller & its team would be honest enough to be believed. Learned my lesson now not to believe Kay Jewellers or it's associate at any cost.

To your reply for the store credit for interest paid, Thank you for making me so lucky Kay Jewellers. But you know what this whole argument that's going on is not for the money, it's for how the trust was broken.

Please keep the gift card of Kay Jeweller because I am no longer interested in doing any business with Kay Jewellers or it's associates because of my whole experience. I have already requested your credit team to send me the final invoice for this particular dispute so that I can make the payment in one shot and be done with Kay Jewellers forever.

Thank you very much.

Your problem is easy to see

Your problem comes down to ONE statement you made...

I don't check the statement every month.
- And this is a good idea..why?

That one statement shows that you don't show any concern for credit, and very likely that you didn't actually read the terms.

They said there was no interest...Okay. How long do you have to pay it off? Did it require minumum monthly payments? I do like how you asked if there were any "hidden" fees, I guess that you are trying to somehow show that you are actually paying attention or know how credit "works". But guess what every fee is fully disclosed per FEDERAL law. Not only when you open the account, but if you had actually read your statement you would see it on every statement you received. It is just up to you to read it.  You have not shown anything that shows the fees  you were charged were not disclosed to you in some way you had a chance to review.

As for that first $35. I would bet that it was a late payment fee, because you failed to read your statement and didn't make the payment. They actually didn't have to waive that fee for your inattentiveness but they did, so you should consider yourself lucky.

If they offered to give you a "gift card" to credit the Interest you paid, you are very lucky. As many companies wouldn't give you a single dollar..real or in some sort of credit.
