To All Cab Companies who have done business with Logisticare, are currently doing business with them, or are in the process of contracting with them. Listen carefully because this will save you a lot of time and money.

This is the most shady company that I have ever seen. Do not believe anything they tell you. If you are a Cab Company owner especially you need to know that Logisticare will do everything in their power to  not do business with a cab company.

They only will use a cab company as a last resort. They only want to use public transportation that is state or government subsidized for the poor that costs them almost nothing to send their medical patients on. All they care about is how cheap they can get the medicare or medicaid patient transported for.

If you are a cab company then either you know or will soon know that Logisticare will give you a bunch of BS about a million dollar insurance policy that they say you HAVE to have to do business with them. Tell them that the only way you will spend that kind of money is if they guarantee you a certain amount of mileage every month. They will refuse because they know if you are a cab company that they work day and night to not give you any trips unless they have NOBODY else to do it.

If you are a cab company you need to know this. If you contract with them they will give you some trips are first to suck you in because they want you in their network as a last resort, but then they will do everything they can to take those trips away from you to give to cheap public transportation or some unqualified guy who is driving his grandmothers 85 buick and doing trips for them at a cheap hourly rate.

When this happens they will lie to you and say your trips were rerouted because you didn't comply with this or that but it is all BS. They also will blame the bill that they will screw you on every month on their billing department and say to talk to them about it.

If you are a cab company do NOT pay the extra insurance that is outrageous, submit to their stupid inspections for things that you will never need at a big cost to you, or let them run YOUR business unless they agree to give you enough mileage every month to justify spending the money.

Be smart and don't let this company abuse you and drive up your costs because you think it will make them give you trips. It won't. The cab companies to them are only about pricing, they don't care that the cab companies are the best run and safest way of transporting their patients.

Don't turn down money though. If you are a cab company and they stopped giving you that many trips then drop the extra insurance and tell them to take a flying F on their inspections. Tell them if they want you to do trips that you will and if they don't then don't call you. They're only calling to call you as a last resort anyway so don't be a fool and spend all the money when they could care less about you or your business.

The million dollar requirement to do business with Logisticare in michigan is a requirement as all vehicles doing business for hire must be registered in the state as a limo and it requires min of 1 million dollar insurance.  I am not sure about other states but this is accuarate for michigan.  I will say that i am a cab owner and work with them and yes they arer shady.  They short you on mileage and you get rejected invoices saying trips were cancelled the were not to avoid paying ,they want you to go through all these steps to get your pay and in the end they just dont pay you.  they also wont pay for no shows even if it was their fault.  A terrible rip off company who is out for themselves only.

Cab Companies.." Grow Up "

I agree totally with Misinformed AUTHOR: Nemtprovider SUBMITTED on Thursday, May 08, 2014.

Also I would like to say that I only know of one or two  Cab Companies in my area that would even have 1 or 2 car properly licensed vehicles to do a legitimate medical transportation business in their state. Some cab companies may have one or two fully licensed vehicles to work for a broker like Logisticare but most do not.

To be properly licensed in the states I work in it is required to have at least $1 million to $2 million liability to transport patients for any medical transportation broker or health insurance company in their state. The states require this million-dollar liability and the broker and insurance companies require you to carry this because it is mandatory by the states. If it were not required by the states the broker or medical insurance company would still require you to carry that type of insurance ...they'd be nuts if they didn't and you would be nuts Mr. Cab Company if you didn't !!!

As I properly run medical transportation company who works for many medical insurance companies and many brokers in a number of states I have not seen a many cab companies with drivers who would NOT pass the stiff requirements my company require of them.

I get calls from many companies yearly who have been recommended by many of my accounts to set up transportation for their patients. The first thing I hear from them is they have been using a Cab Company and they have been overcharged, patients left at their appointment and not picked up, patients left in the morning waiting for a cab that never shows up to take a child and the parents to a hospital appointment. I also hear many times that the Cab Company has picked up patient in one town and drove them 100 miles away to another town which in my view is against the law because Cab Companies are supposed to work in the city that their licensed in and not travel between town to town or state to state , this happens all the time to the un-educated Health Insurance company or hospital that needs medical transportation.

So to all be unhappy Cab Companies get out of a medical transportation business and stay in the business that you're good at picking people up at the bar who are too drunk to drive home or get properly licensed and step up to the plate and your big boy pants on.

Your buddy property license medical transportation company.

Misinformed

The first thing you need to realize is that logisticare is a business. Business have one goal and that is to make a profit.  How can you as a business owner be upset with a company who would use contracted non emergency medical transportation companies as a first resort?  Of course they will only use your service as a last resort becuase it is a greater cost to do so.  Cab companies cost per mile are substatislly higher than contracted next companies. As for the insurance you are complaining about, I will shed some light on the situation.  It's called a General liability policy.

With the day-to-day uncertainties of small business management, general liability insurance is something you cannot do without. Accidents happen – on site, off site, with employees and with customers – no matter how much you’ve planned.

Liability insurance can help cover medical expenses, attorney fees and damages you are legally responsible for. It can also offer protection against situations that may not have even crossed your mind.

For example, any individual or business providing an opinion, making recommendations, designing solutions or offering a service is at risk for a professional liability lawsuit. Nationwide can help with defense costs, regardless of fault. And we offer protection for judgments, court costs and more.

Due to the nature of transporting medical patients simple auto insurance is not enough.

Now ow having said that you need to realize that this insurance is mandatd for this type of transportation but the state you reside in and NOT logisticare.  The state also sets forth the requirements each vehicle must have to transport patients.  So those unnessecary costly items are items the state says you need to have in order to transport patients. So your rage is misdirected.  Complain to your state.

The state also mandates certain training requirements for the drivers themselves, which certainly most of your drivers would not be able to pass or complete. Drug testing, CPR first aid training, defensive driving courses, physicals, stringent driving record requirements.  So why would they choose to call first a cab company with little to none of these aforementioned trainings?  This only puts them at a greater risk for lawsuits.

There is also a standard list if items that all nemt vehicles must have onboard.

Nemt companies are not for hire like cab companies. the two services while similar in nature are worlds apart.

no one is forcing you to transport for them at all, but to come in here and act like they are prohibiting you from running your company is absurd.  If you do not want to comply with the required steps to transport patients for them then be happy with your current business model.  But spare us the whinny crybaby complaints.

As as for paying them next to nothin you too are ignorant to the facts so I will help you out.  The so called Hugh contracts they sign with the state, 80% of those contract dollars are paid directly to the contracted nemt providers.

my recommendation to prospective cab companies is to use the trips they offer to add to your revenue, and not to look at them as your main source of revenue.
