I began working at PETSMART in the grooming salon over five months ago.  After beginning my first shift I felt uneasy with the lack of training (videos) and was expected to clip and nail grind a client's dog unsupervised without having used such equipment before. I was given a call list by an employee and was told to call each of her clients and book her appointments with no computer training to obtain prices or physically enter appointments.  I opted to wait for my "trainer" (no salon manager) and she scolded the employee for shifting her duties to me when I could not possibly perform such a task without training. The employee immediately retaliated stating she never told me to do so. In the months leading up to the verbal assault I will later describe, this employee was extremely hostile toward me(and the other employees) and would insult my work as I serviced customers in the salon. When a customer would compliment the work I did, she would attempt to take credit for the work even though she did not work with the dog.  Two weeks ago she undercharged a customer and lied about having done so.  I confronted her about it as she entered it into the computer under my name(company policy states termination upon such charging). I asked her three times if it was under my name and what the customer was charged and she lied each time. After the last time I asked, she physically went to the computer as I was across the room and stated the customer had been charged correctly and it was under her name. I told her in a very concerned and calm voice that I had already checked the history(available to all employees) and that I knew she was being dishonest. I told her I understood why she charged what she did but that I needed her to be honest with me so I could trust her. She flew into a rage screaming,"You little b*tch! How dare you look at my history! You're a backstabbing little b***h! I hate your f*cking face and your cocky little attitude-I have hated you since day one!". I did not have time to alert management as we were overbooked with dogs and did not want to disappoint the clients who are paying for services only I could perform. I ignored her for the rest of the day. I called management that evening and they had heard from other people that had witnessed the incident. I was asked to fill out a statement the next morning and I had it prepared when I walked into work. I spoke with the store manager for 37 minutes and was not allowed to be clocked in while we discussed it. He stated he needed to get a statement from the witness and then it would be brought to upper management to decide how to deal with the hostile employee. He stated he would not speak to the hostile employee until atleast the next day. He then told me I was to work with this employee alone in the salon for the rest of the day. I questioned his decision and stated that I felt it was inappropriate for me to be working with her until the matter was settled. I was told if I left the store that my employment would be terminated. I told him I was very uncomfortable and feared retaliation from the employee. He stated if I "allowed people like her to dictate my choices I would never succeed and did I want to succeed?". I reluctantly stayed and did not speak to anyone the entire day. I The cap on my tire was missing when I left that afternoon and I called the store manager to report it. It had been done while my car was in the parking lot as it was the only part of my car not covered in salt: I drove to the gas station four blocks away and it was covered in salt by the time I got there. The employee had made a joke about a week earlier that made me feel uneasy around her: "That's when you take the cap off the b*tches' tire."  PETSMART handbook states:"We are commited to providing a work environment that is free of harrassment...we maintain a strict policy prohibiting harrassment...  PETSMART doesn't allow harrassment, Investigates complaints promptly, Takes appropriate action against the person responsible for the inappropriate conduct, prohibits retaliation, and management informs employee when the matter has been resolved." I feel this situation is highly inappropriate. I received no apology from the employee, no followup from management about the matter being resolved and the incident with my car has not been spoken of. The store manager only approaches me when I am working with a customer and is otherwise nowhere to be found. I have also been told to bathe dogs in icy water when the water heater was broken for the weekend and to not discuss/inform the customers of such information(even though it could drive a dog into hypothermia).  I am VERY unimpressed with the lack of care for their clients' and employees' mental/physical wellbeing. I have a strong customer service/management background and I chose to work for this company to be around animals. This is the tip of a very large iceberg and I caution anyone seeking employment or contributing their money to this company.
