I received a Groupon to try out a 6 week "Bootcamp" for a small trial fee about 6 months ago.  Upon arriving at Private Workout for a consultation, they put a salesperson in front of you that acts as a "personal trainer".

After presenting my Groupon, and explaining my content of the trial membership, they basically won't allow you to take a tour of the "gym", until you have signed up for a term membership. They throw out all kinds of "programs", which are all the same (i.e. They only have 10 machines that you would do everyday), as well as different pricing plans.  They pitch you a $9.99/month plan, which turns out to be $49.99/month.

They aren't concerned with what you want out of your membership, they are only concerned with getting as much money out of you as possible.

They have this program in which they say you can be a life member for $200 upon successfully completing 100 workouts.  The thing is, they'll still charge you a $50 monthly fee, which is higher than most qualified gyms int he area.

In very small contract language, they will also put in small print that you owe a $200 cancellation fee.  I have been members of very large gyms and in no way has there ever been such an absurd charge.

If you are wanting to see results, or have actually been to a gym before, don't sign up with Private Workout.  It is essentially a self-setup home gym, in which you can do a couple leg exercise rotations for 30 minutes.

After I learned that I was being charged these high rates, as well as not having a good experience at the gym, I called and requested a cancellation, thinking I would possibly pay one additional month.  Turns out, they tried to slap me with a $200 cancellation fee, in which I questioned.  They advised me to email their "office manager" at a HOTMAIL website address.  After a week and half, and 3 emails, I finally received my contract and Appeal Request Form.  The Appeal Request goes in front of the "board" for approval, in which I am sure is never actually considered, based on their other antics.

I have never written a poor review about any company in my lifetime, although many have upset with poor customer service, quality, etc.  Private Workout is by far the biggest ripoff I have ever seen, and when questioned about this ripoff, has the worst customer service, or lack thereof, to back it up or try to resolve.
