Roommate Express Roommate Finder Service, Fraudulent Scam , Internet

Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

I am writing about a series of fraudulent charges on my debit card via Roommate Express.

Roommate Express back in July talked my wife into purchasing their roommate finder service for $34 on 7/13/11 which specifically would provide us with a minimum of three current matches to our roommate request profile at that time. They also specifically guaranteed at least three relevant matches or we would receive our money back. We never saw or signed any other agreement.

If they just gave us poor matches, I would understand.  But they only sent us the names of two people that have not been seeking a housemate in 3 and 6 years.  This was obviously irrelevant information and when I attempted to contact their customer service number to correct their mistake, they refused to take or return any of my multiple calls and emails. Then, I saw all the other fraud reports about them online and realized that they appear to be just a fraudulent scam company that systematically steals money from innocent people and never actually provides a real service to anyone that I can tell. By Googleing roommate express scam you will see postings from hundreds of others that they have scammed in a similar manner.

If that wasn't enough, they sent in a bogus letter to my bank and actually convinced them to reverse their refund and charged me again.  I will never use my debit card for online purchases again as it is far more difficult that correcting credit card fraud.  After explaining to my bank in detail what happened they credited me yet again.

Now, over a year later in 9/12 they charge my card $49 out of the blue for no apparent reason.  I called them on the number provided to my card and of course they do not respond.  I changed my credit card number (which I should have done earlier) and can only assume that they are recharging everyone whose numbers they ever had on file, hoping that it will slide under most people's radar. Well, again I had multiple discussions with my bank and they somehow convinced my bank again to reverse the credit they gave me.  I am sure I will get this resolved, but and dismayed that this organization is still active and it's owners not in prison where they belong. So, I am writing this to further warn people away from this fraudulent scammer.
