This is the government issued card to obtain your social security money. Unfortunately if they freeze your card due to suspected fraud, there is no way to get your money. The card my mom has was not stolen, she used it out of the country. Since they froze the account, there is no way to reach anyone via telephone to have this corrected. Their phone system hung up on us about 10-15 times, we tried every which way to enter the prompts. Then finally we got through the system to at least get on hold for a customer representative. We are still unable to speak with anyone to correct this problem and have been on hold for over an hour. Apparantly this is the M.O. of this company, question is, is this the M.O. of the US government so people cannot get to their social security money?

suspended card

The reason your mothers card was more than likely suspended was probably due to her not contacting the debit card services and letting them know she would be traveling outside of the United States. Because she's the card holder, she will need to attempt and contact the international phone number listed on the back of her direct express card. This will not be something you can do on her behalf, by contacting the call center yourself it might just make it more difficult for your mother to prove her identity when she contacts the call center and speaks to the fraud prevention department. She must attempt to stay in contact at least once every three months so as to inform the company she is out of the country, failure to do so Will cause her card to be fraud suspended
