On August 12, 2015, I called Verizon to reactivate service for high speed internet DSL. I wanted just the internet service, not the landline phone service. The representative told me to activate the account now with both internet and phone service and if I wanted just internet I should contact another department. I did that a few hours later and I was told by another representative that they could not do that. Despite the fact that the first time I did received just internet DSL, this representative told they never did anything like that before and to get the internet, I have to have landline phone service. I canceled my account on the same day. I was still charged for a whole month of service, even though the service was not activated yet and the account was activated for only a few hours. In September 2015, I received a bill for first month of service that I never received. I called customer service and after over two hours on the phone with them they said they submitted a claim to customer financial support and they would call me back. They never did. I didn't think of following the issue after this because I was assured that it would be resolved. I still received bills for the first month charge, but thought that it was a mistake. In November, the bill was sent to a collection agency. I contacted verizon customer financial support and they said that my account was nowhere on their records and since it was activated at the beginning, that I would have to pay for the whole monthly billing cycle. I being charged for an account that no longer existed and was only activated for 3-4 hours.
