Beware of the Wal Mart Money Card! This is not the Wal Mart gift card but a prepaid Visa Card with the Wal Mart name on the front. You can buy them at Wal Mart. I received one from one of my children for Christmas. Thank heavens it was only for $20! They charge a $3.00 a month maintenance fee. It used to be $4.94 a month but now they've lowered it, so nice of them. I tried to use my $20 card today and found out it only has $4.12 left on it. I was totally confused until I started doing some research and found out it has been steadily debiting the charges since I received it at Christmas. They remove the maintenance fee regardless of if you use the card or not. What a ripoff! Warn everyone you know about this card, it's not good for anything but putting money in Wal Mart's pockets!

Doesn't really matter... it's just a ripoff!

Doesn't really matter which card should have been purchased or who gets the fees, the bottom line is that this type of card is a major ripoff. And the fact that Wal Mart carries them and their name is on the card makes me want to take my business elsewhere.

just a note

those fees don't "line the pockets of walmart" those fees are charged and retained by the issuing bank...maybe your children should have paid a little more attention to what they were purchasing...sounds like they intended to give you a "giftcard" and not a visa "debit" card

Not PrePaid card, it is MoneyCard.

Go to this site.

https://www.walmartmoneycard.com

and look at the bottom of page on right and click "Cardholder Agreement".

You will find all kind of charge.

I have seen some differ type of cards on rack and are differ kind of used.

I don't know how your children got the card. But they may use WalMark PrePay work better somewhere else than gift card only work in WalMart. May be children want to help you buy gift of your choice somewhere else instead at WalMart.

Maybe your card now have about $1.12 left.

Sorry

That is NOT UNCOMMON

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

That has been issue with gift cards and these types of prepaid Visa's for years.

Its not just Wal-Mart that does it. It depends on the retailer etc.
