On a white background sign with large red letters "FREE" windshield rock chip repair. When we stopped to inquire, the on-site technician said it would be free if we comprehensive auto insurance coverage, which we did and do.
However, there appeared to be a problem with my insurance company approving the repair. The on-site tech called his representative and she in turn contacxted our insurance company. We were informed by this person on the phone that our insurance company would in fact cover tyhe repair, so I authorized it.
This was in June of 2009. In early August, we received a call from 5 Minute advising us that our insurance company would not honor their invoice and that I would have to pay the bill. I refused. We later received an invoice for the repair. Again I refused to pay it because this was not an option given to us.
They should have told us that if for any reason the insurance company did not pay the bill, then we would be obligated to, we would not have had the repair done.
The draw sign to get people in is false! The repair is NOT free. Your insurance has to pay for it or the customer has to pay for it. That is a deceptive business practice. The definition I am familar with of the word free means without cost. If there is a cost of any kind, then the product or service is not free. Plain and simple. If you tell me something is free and I accept it, and then you ask for money for the free whatever, you lied. Buyer beware.

Why blame Rock Chip?

Your insurer flaked on a commitment you heard them agree to over the phone, leaving you stiffed with the bill. I'd be mad as hell at the insurance agency. If they weren't willing to cover it they shouldn't have agreed. The draw sign was a bit misleading, but not because of the word free, but because the process takes more like 20 minutes, rather than 5. The form I signed had all the appropriate disclaimers on it. I guess most people don't bother with the "legal mumbo jumbo".

Stupid people think there is actualy anything in life that iss completely free. of course the insurance company is going to pay for it. you people with the coverage you pay for should be pissed at your insurance company for not paying for it. Not going after an honest bussiness who has helped thousands of thousand save money by not having to get a replacment you dummy cause if you let it crack out you will have to pay your deductible for a new windshield. i am a customer of theres and dont appreciate people writing bullshit online to put then down
